I think we've all just gotta understand that this game is aimed towards a way more casual/younger audience who are unfamiliar with other games in the genre. This game was not only made for profit (like every other product), but is bait for streams and youtubers. It's economically better for the devs to snuff out any potential outliers to their policy so they are able to market to a wider audience without having to worry about any controversy.

I have yet to see any convincing data that shows that being what the industry would call "advertiser friendly" is actually profitable. I'll give an example: youtube. At first they introduce demonetizing(removing ads from videos) as a way to try to force youtubers that already built their entire industry by being "not advertiser friendly" to be "advertiser friendly". Immediately you could see youtube quality taking a nosedive and youtube has struggled ever since to the point where now ads show up on demonetized videos but instead of giving the video a cut of the pay they take 100% of the pay. Think about it... They demonetized channels but then put on the ads back but the demonetization status stayed. So clearly they are not concerned about ads being "associated with certain types of behaviors" but rather about controlling users.

Almost like times have changed since then and we are actually progressing. Why is hurling slurs and racial remarks so important to you? It's not like that was exactly a good thing even back then

Correct. This sort of censorship actually helps no one and just hurts privacy and free speech as time goes on. Media producers in general only believe this practice is profitable as they think a 'safe space' for all groups will somehow garner bigger bucks.

People that grew up when lead gas and lead paint, and asbestos everything baked into them from a young age are starting to get ornery now that they are slowly realizing their brain rot is not normal and you can have healthy relations with people that don't involve always attacking them and hurling slurs like its a klan rally.

Or maybe realize it's just words n sounds on a screen and the mute button is your friend :) Not saying being hateful is good, but that the ability to be hateful and not use it is better than not having it at all.

The very idea of controlling someone elses speech is authoritarian. That alone is reason enough to oppose it.

Yo its freedom of speech from federal censorship, nothing about private. There's a million shooters that do absolutely nothing about slurs and hate speech, one wont take away your man card.

Steam controls your speech, Facebook controls your speech, Youtube controls your speech, get over it. If you've been on the internet for any point in time you've somehow, someway had your speech controlled, but all of the sudden low-poly fps game is the hill we want to die on for "free speech"

I mean you are right but its 2023 and not early 2000's. People are offended by everything, even the word noob.

"JUST BECAUSE OTHERS DO IT, THAT MEANS ALL PLATFORMS SHOULD HAVE IT!"
Serious bootlicker energy in here.

So its possible to mute someone and not get mad at insults online? Bro, all you have to do is mute and ignore people. It's not like you're feelings are hurt by people who may as well be fictional. It's possible.
