I use Voicemeeter + Dolby Atmos for Headphones to have a perfect surround sound (for games that support 7.1).
But here I can see only first 2 channels firing. :(
Here is what you need to download in order:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/ (the base)
https://sourceforge.net/projects/peace-equalizer-apo-extension/ (the graphical interface for EQAPO)
https://sourceforge.net/projects/hesuvi/ ( Surround Virtualizations for Equalizer APO)
It is some work, but once you finish, you can never go back.
With stereo (2ch) input you can only adjust frequencies to match your headset perfectly. But you cannot pull surround sound from 2ch input. Unless the game is using built-in surround sound, like binaural audio in EFT or steam audio in CSGO. Then it's different story, since you get good positional sounds without even using HeSuVi (the stereo channels those games provide, have already 3D sounds filtered by HRTF/HRIR).
The positional sound for me is not the one you can pinpoint when you rotating a character head with mouse. The good sound positioning is when you can pinpoint sounds around you correctly whithout any character movement (not touching mouse), especially differentiate front and back sounds.
Now let's go back to the original problem.
I just want to confirm whether BattleBit is always providing 2-ch output or is there a way (workaround) to get 7.1.
@n3f0x Can you see in any of the APO settings the incoming number of channels?
This is exactly what my settings do, not only that but also the sound is hyper realistic and not distorted as 95% of surround filters :) My main goal in games is to immerse myself to it and sound is one of the most important things for me for that
I found this, is that what you're looking for? https://imgur.com/a/UXJQ3ap
The game is set to output to a 7.1 virtual audio device, its set to 8 channel audio in windows.
Using audacity to monitor each channel's audio levels I can only see 2 channels being used.
This is regardless of the audio setting in game.
how ever... if someone want's to try to figure something out. i've found the... odd "Settings" location, it's registry...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BattleBitDevTeam\BattleBit
the entry is named "AudioChannels" it does seem to change according to what you change in the game, but it's like it's missing the files or command to switch over like their just placeholders for stereo. i did how ever, try downloading different audio dll's to replace the xaudio file for the game, it runs, but no change in audio.
