even if you do get shot, it’s unlikely you’ll ever find the sniper and thus everyone’s gonna camp in the outskirts of the map
some maps like sandysunset and isle have some crazy long sight lines that would be even more horrific to play if you couldn’t hide from sniper glint
Hat tip to those aggressive style snipers who genuinely know what they are doing.
This is a video game not real life, it’s an effective way to actually counter snipers. I will agree it needs tweaking and toned down. As well as not being able to be seen through solid objects/foliage. But it shouldn’t be removed completely.
Case and point on the fact it isn’t real life. The M200 intervention does not have a 1400m/s bullet velocity. It also weighs 30+ pounds without an optic (usually being another 1.5 pounds at least). Why is it that you, as a sniper can run around un impeded carrying a 30+ pound rifle. But the support class (even excluding armor) has a movement speed reduction carrying a 20lb fully loaded SAW?
You guys are typically 300m or farther from your targets, there are currently no weapons other than counter snipers that can outclass you. If I shoot at the glint as any other class from that range. I’m just dead. What it does is alert the player, hey don’t stop moving you are currently a target.
If you don’t want glint. Use a medium range optic. They have ridiculous zoom, and can easily hit targets at your desired range 300-800m farther if you can range it.
So no sniper glint is fine, albeit a bit overturned in its current state.
Edit: Locate by sound, you’re joking again right? Yeah MAYBE if there were 1-2 snipers allowed per team and they gave an EXTREMELY realistic report. But when you have 254 players on the same server with no limit, all you’re going to hear are snipers. From BOTH teams. You won’t be able to effectively locate them at all. (Not even factoring in suppressors. Which would make them virtually IMPOSSIBLE to find. )
You can have both because if will destroy the infantry game.. at least with 4 X scopes are users have a chance to respond
No, those who do not like having to deal with Snipers by having to search for them want to keep it in. Sniper Glint is an easy target and can be seen all over the map.
I could say the same about your Post...
I don´t think you are arguing with good faith when we both know that I wasn´t saying that the Game has to be like real life but some things have to be, otherwise it wouldn´t be fun.
If that were not the case I would have to assume that you would be fine if everyone could just fly, had infinite ammo, no recoil etc.
Sniper Glint is basically the Dev holding your hand to find Snipers because you don´t want to take a Squad and hunt them down, you would rather be undisturbed playing the way you want and you are fine that the Snipers can´t do the same.
Yes, CQB Players are not meant to carry weapons that outclass Sniper Rifles and that is no excuse for the Glint. Strafing is so fast and Sniper Handling so bad that you can just dance around the Shots anyway and kill a Sniper using Single Shot with pretty much any Assault Rifle at Medium Range.
Anyone that played Games with no Sniper Glint learned how to deal with it but you can not deal with the Glint because it is a constant marker. Being forced to use a Medium Scope is not a solution when Snipers are supposed to be effective at long Ranges. The Handling on the Snipers is already enough punishment.
So no, Glint isn´t fine.
No, it won´t and they won´t have to. This is what people will tell you that hate Snipers when Games like Arma are absolutely fine with neither. If too many people play Sniper there will be enough people that hunt them and it will self-regulate. Always has been like that.
Jesus dude, you’re really disingenuous in your argument. 300-800m isn’t far enough for you?
Which is more than feasible to hit targets at that range with the medium optics (with no glint). How far away are you trying to be? Map edges hitting targets at 2000m useless to your team? Seriously some of you sniper mains really need a wake up call.
I conceded the fact it needed a nerd to glint. Not good enough huh? You gotta have your cake and eat it too? No glint on any optics… Ridiculous
You can’t use a scope with NVGs. That’s why they have these things called infrared (IR) lasers.
