Please remove bolt action sniper rifles
They are impossible to balance. They either are overpowered and have no skillcap, killing everything on all ranges in an instant or are useless/annoying

There is no game until this date where sniper rifles arent just bad.

Okay, but at close range, they still take around 1-2 shots to kill someone depending if they're at full health or not.

Lemme guess "Remove bolties, add in shotguns" is the premises behind this?
I've never liked the FPS trope where every game 'must' have sniper rifles. The best games that did have them usually make them really powerful but very limited.

Oh, okay. So you just hate bolties? Usually this argument is "Remove the bolties, but add in shotguns"

So I thought you were one of those people.
I never understood why almost every shooter nowadays needs to have a sniper class.
Especially in a game all about pushing objectives and being in the action.

They're annoying to the enemies, because getting plinked by some bushwooky from 500 meters is never fun.
They're annoying to teammates, because having half the Squad sit back and snipe doesn't capture objectives.


Well, at least they can't turn invisible like the snipers in Planetside 2, or are super strong like in Call of Duty.
there needs to be a sniper limit! too many groups of snipers clustered up together
I wish they'd remove it. Always got those no skillers sitting in the back lol

This is one of the few games that gives bolts reverse damage falloff. So although the SSG69 can be used point-blank it'll do say 65 damage instead of 93 just as an example

So atleast its not a one hit on all ranges. Good to know

Why remove one extreme and then add in another... I think you misinterpreted all those arguments man. People want either both or neither to exist not just one or the other

I don't think they need to be removed for obvious reasons, but it would be cool if community servers that you join through the community section could disable snipers.
just add a sniper limit, atm its almost all snipers, most of the maps are catered to sniping imho.

if I recall correctly, the person said they didn't understand why the game had bolt actions if it had bolt actions. They hadn't fired a bolt action before in BBR and thought they were just like the ones from CoD. Then being informed correctly, they dropped it.

I didn't design the game, so I personally don't care what is/isn't in the game.

i think the problem is that the automatic bolt and rangefinder attachments make them stupidly easy to use.

the reason they're so powerful is because they're pretty darn hard to master properly. at least without attachments. but the moment you unlock rangefinder and automatic bolt, the biggest downsides about these weapons are completely removed.

with those two things alone, you can fire constantly without unscoping to chamber the next round, and the rangefinder lets you zero your scope to any range, entirely negating the need to worry about bullet drop. with those upgrades, these hard to use guns with big rewards for skill become a literal point and click adventure

and its not only annoying for those getting killed by them. i often see 1/3 of a team all pick sniper, sitting in a hard to reach spot and doing nothing to help the team. they really need to do something to make them harder to use. im an absolutely terrible sniper in every other game, but this game i find myself on 10-20+ killstreaks whenever i use one


my suggestion is they should make the automatic bolt still require you to go out of ADS to work, and make the rangefinder less accurate. like a 10-30m error margin at longer ranges. its the best idea i have for them without outright removing them

?? I'm going to assume you meant "why the game didn't have shotguns if it had bolt actions."

The part that was dropped is the belief that the bolts were not balanced in the game.

The argument that it's hypocritical to have one and not also the other is still fair, actually even made stronger by Oki balancing bolts with reverse damage falloff, because it proves that the impossible-to-balance can be balanced, and has already been done before. He can do it, he just doesn't want to for some reason.
