[1.0.0:0305b] Mac has problems with Steam Cloud syncing
Games started from macOS do not get uploaded to Steam Cloud (0 bytes stored) and do not get copied to Windows 10 machines.

Repro Steps:
1. Start with a fresh Steam account
2. Install and run Rise of Industry full game on macOS Mojave 10.14.4
3. Start new game, save several files
4. Close game, wait 1 minute, close Steam
5. Relaunch Steam on Mac and Windows

Results:
- Steam reports 0 bytes used for Steam Cloud
- Windows client shows no save files

I have had some problems getting Windows saves to sync properly going the other direction as well (Steam could not sync your cloud data error), possibly due to having save games with the same name both locally and remote.

I have not had a chance to test 1.0.1 to see if the issue is fixed.

Will need to investigate this, but never heard of cross-platform save compatibility in other games...

To be clear, if I use Dropbox to copy the save files between machines the saves load perfectly. This is entirely a problem with the Mac client interacting with Steam Cloud, not a problem with the save files themselves.
I get that, but the file system (folder structure) across operating systems is totally incompatible. I'm not sure it can be done. Do you know other games that have this?

Factorio and SHENZEN I/O both support Steam Cloud on Mac and loading Mac game saves on PC.

Looks like you can do this using a root override for Mac OS. See https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/cloud
Interesting. Will investigate
