To answer your question directly, though, the train station is built via the warehouse.
The answer seems to be:
tl;dr both warehouses have to have train terminals, both train terminals need to be connected to each other
Once for the "Store Instances" (Couldn't you just say "Click on stores from different cities to reveal their menus? Wtf), and once for the "Train Terminals".
The tutorial specifically says:
```
It's time to expand into other Regions (what regions??? Cities? I dont have access to other cities ... wtf are regions) where we can make more money.
Place another Warehouse in another Region (??) and connect it to the other Warehouse by placing a Train Terminal (Where do I find the Train terminal?????) next to each Warehouse.
```
It's missing a lot of details, and it also throws information that not only aren't useful for the user, but they misguide him even more.
A simple way to say this would be
```
You can move more efficiently products in long distances with trains, by building a Train Terminal through the Warehouse' Destination menu, and then connecting it with another Warehouse.
```
Simple, specific and easy. No vague information about "Regions", about "Train Terminals" which you dont know where to find etc.
Also, when you push the "?" help menu, it's the most unhelpful guide and it confuses me even more, coz now I think I have to build a building from the bottom menu. I expected something in the lines of how to build a train terminal, but instead it throws me to a "Buildings" help menu. Wtf, I totally did not expect that when I clicked the TUTORIAL's train terminal menu.
I wouldn't make this such a big deal, but you guys are acting like We're the problem, when you can obviously do so much better work at explaining stuff. It's another thing not to grab the user by the hand, and another to feed him with information that does not help at all in a hecking tutorial.
Everybody's making mistakes, just don't throw the ball to the users when you can make so much better job.
EDIT:
I screwed up. My mistake. The train tutorial is much more horrible than I ever hoped. Now my trains can't reach their destinations, even though I tried many combinations of connecting the rails, between the two warehouses. The instructions are **FAR from precise**. Please, devs, I'm a programmer too, I know many times the user is at fault, but here you messed up a little bit which happens, but what's bad is that you think you haven't and you're blaming the users because "this game does it differently from other games". Just because you do things differently, doesn't mean you're doing it right. I've played Dwarf Fortress, and I'm so sorry, but it does better job at explaining stuff.
I just want to relax and play. Not to search the internet for solutions, when the game could be explaining that stuff **correctly**.
I mentioned specifically how the tutorial's text could be improved.
1. New help (?) button talks to you about train terminals, instead of """Buildings""" which is worthless information in regards to the tutorial
2. Less words, 100% more useful information. Is this that hard?
VS
It's another thing to "Not hold the user's hand". And another to have so bad Tutorial you're actually making the user's life harder.
PS
I wouldn't make this such a big deal, but the Dev is going on every single question like this, saying "how the game is not like others" and how "it's not holding the user's hand". It's not about that! It's about not giving me a headache while I'm trying to learn your game by reading your tutorial. If you're specifically polluting your tutorials with useless information "just because you dont wanna hold the user's hand", then that's the most naive and stupid reason to make a tutorial bad. I can excuse a mistake, but doing this on purpose is pure stupidity.
I wanna play your hecking game, not search in Steam Community for answers for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tutorial.
PS 2
Factorio, Dwarf Fortress, Satisfactory, SHENZEN (a game requiring you to read a book literally with a programming assembly language), TIS-100, MOLEK-SYNTEZ, Minecraft (complex redstone logic) etc. Every single game of these, is or can turn 100% more complex than Rise of Industry, doesn't hold the user's hand, yet the experience to learn stuff is 100% easier, more fun and none of these games ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you in a misguiding "tutorial" just for the devs to say "The game doesn't hold the user's hand".
You have to connect both the lines on the train station. One is IN and the other is OUT. It works best when there are two parallel lines; one for each direction. Both directions can make use of one line, but they 'ghost' when they pass each other and go much slower.
For the record, I also had to Google how to get trains going, which is why I found this thread. Fortunately a friend was on comms to explain to me why I was getting the "can't reach destination" problem too.
@Alex:
It's not reasonable to build up trust that all buildings are available from the bottom bar, then to expect players to work out on their own that there is now somewhere new to find the train station. Particularly since the actual rail is still on the bottom bar. I ended up placing track and looking for some way to interact with it to put the station on, or just run it past the warehouse and hope for the best.
Perhaps you could put train stations on the bottom bar, but only allow them to be placed within radius of a warehouse, then get the player to choose the warehouse to link it to?
Aside from that, having great fun in the game :D Keep it up!
Warehouse panel, techtree tooltip, assistant, and even the tutorial guides you to it. Can't do much more :D
Used to have them as individual buildings, but it was a mess. Also, this way, they have shared inventory, which makes life much easier. If I do end up putting them in the bottom bar, people will complain why they can't put it anywhere, why is it disconnected, etc
Hey, I felt pretty bad for being so harsh, I was frustrated yesterday for not even completing the career's tutorial, after spending more time searching in Steam community for answers for a tutorial, than actually playing the game :P .
But yeah, I strongly believe it can definitely be improved :P But always have fun with what you're doing guys, no matter how angry sometimes people can be at some decisions. Things aren't always going well. :P I was angry because I really wanted to enjoy this game yesterday and I didn't. But I'm still going to dig deeper than that and give this game chance, because it seems well made in so many other aspects :)
Thanks for taking this feedback in good faith! :D
@alex.
I'm sorry but this response is a cop out. Providing stations in the NORMAL way of building buildings would make sense to EVERYONE. All you need to do is remind people in a tool tip that they must be built within range of a warehouse - if people complain after this then they are the people at fault. I really dont understand why developers don't utilise tool tips for most of their training - it is by far the best way. Seriously, stop disregarding peoples real life feedback. Arrogance does not make a game people enjoy.
My experience with the tutorial was that is was very long winded and provided very little helpful information as to how to play the game. I would recommend people play the game first THEN do the tutorial, as the tutorial is not particularly helpful unless you first understand what the game is about.
