Selling surplus production?
In most cases factories don't consume inputs at the same rate as their supplying buildings produce those inputs. So to keep factories operating at 100% I produce more of the inputs than the factories consume. Just having that surplus stashed away doing nothing is of course a waste of money.

How do I set up trades or deliveries for selling surplus inputs without selling so much that my factories run dry? All I've found is limiting the amount that gets stored in a building but that's no good for this purpose since I want a minimum stock level in my factories, not a maximum. And trade routes just seem to always run as fast as possible.

Dispatch to a warehouse so it distributes and acts like a buffer, send rest to the shop

How do I tell it to only sell the rest?
Send 1 to WH, X to shop (demand -1). That makes a buffer

Er, what?
Slot A (Warehouse): send 1 unit
Slot B (shop): send whatever that shop wants, minus one

So it only sends to slot B when slot A is full?
Nope, it does ABABAB, but because A has 1 request, it will only try to send it there if needed. Try it :)
Set the outflows of the inbalanced resource gatherers to prioritize the factories for whatever amount they need to complete a cycle and dump the overflow into a truck depot that you can ship monthly to whoever will pay for it. This has been very useful for me to dump the excesses.

I've found the truck depots to be far more useful than warehouses for getting rid of stuff on schedule.

But I want to send MORE than 50% to A. Dealing with overproductions of 50% or more is easy because your factories will fill up but in most processes I have like 20-30% surplus. If I sold 50% then my factories will run dry. I want to send everything to A until a certain stock level is reached and only then start sending to B.

Admittedly it's a bit finicky. In a month (A8) we'll redo the Trade Route system, allowing for exactly stuff like this

Maybe allow flagging destinations as "low priority" so they are only serviced when all other destinations have their assigned limits reached?
That's part of the plan

Sooo, just bought the game (awesome so far), but this is still my biggest issue. I am trying to figure out how to deal with this via trade routs, but just the simple option of "sell product A to store X until only 20 are left in storage, then put on hold until more arrives" would be the biggest quality of live improvement for somebody getting into the game.
Change the priority in the gameplay settings menu to Auto-Manual. This way it sells only whatever is left after distributing

I also have problems with this. I don't have trade routes yet so I'm only using the hauling trucks. I have set 2 factories first in order to supply, each 20 products, and as 3th the warehouse for overflow. But now it gives equally to all the 3 locations. Is there a way the supplier only sends products to the warehouse if the 2 factories are full with 20 products? Love the game btw!
