Chitin ?
I don't see Chitin mentioned in these discussions nor in the guides. Where / when does it become useful ?

Chitin was just added in a week or two ago along with fur, feathers, and some other new items. I'm still in the process of adding new recipes to make use of these.

Would be handy if these new items could aid in skill increases in Alchemy or masonary ... once these skills get added to game.

Was wondering if we can use any of the new materials YET?
To make armor from Chitin, or use it as a building material ?

In crafting menu selecting all materials and all choices and slowly checking all recipes still don't see any use for Chitin. So should we just dump useless materials?

I wouldn't necessarily dump them. I haven't seen any recipes utilizing them either but, instead of dumping them, you might simply build a townhouse near your main city and line it with shelving and storage crates. I haven't checked if they can be transmogrified into higher quality yet but, if they can be, you could also utilize that to conserve space.

Primary reasoning behind the above thought is pretty simple... Feathers are likely going to be used in special arrows. Chitin will likely be used as either an armor, potion mat, or an enchant for armor. Fur I could see being used to make more cold biome friendly armor and/or underwear as part of specialized armor. Same goes for nails, golem cores, and some other random items I've ran across that I've yet to find a use for.

The game is technically still in a form of EA development but was sent live to help the dev generate sales to pay his bills. While the game is still being worked on, patience is going to be a must. As a 44 year old gamer who started with a commodore 64 back in 1986, this game has honestly started to give me hope that the dev honestly cares about developing a game for gamers instead of it just being another corporate cookie cutter with a reskin and name change.
