note, you need t1 STONE first, to upgrade your forge. the upgraded forge can then forge t1 iron, while your t0 forge can not.
Also, the t1 materials are much HARDER then t0. so be sure to upgrade your tool levels before going.
Cass how do you upgrade your tools to higher tier before getting to a T1 area?
Please excuse my newbie question just newly starting out.
The xp you gain when harvesting increases the level of skill you have for that aspect (mining, logging etc). In the inventory screen you will see the harvesting tab- that shows your level for that harvesting area. In the skills tab I would recommend investing your harvesting skill points in strength, that will increase the amount of damage you do with each hit. You can also craft higher level tools with tier 0 resources as you increase your smithing skill. (I know, it's a lot to take in at the start....) For example, you could have a tier 0 level 5 tool. These will help when gathering the next tier's resources.
If you will accept advice from an old timer, the sooner you can get your mining skill strength up, the easier you will find to mine tier 1 metal ore...the sooner you mine the tier 1 ore, the quicker you get the tier 1 tools which makes the next process easier. This pattern helps throughout the game, but you will get to the stage where you can skip upgrading tools each tier.
You may find uncommon metal ore in the tier 0 so that will replace the common tool you may already have. You can also enchant the tools to increase their specs, but that has only limited value early on in the game, at least until you unlock more enchanting recipes.
I hope this helps )
I'm in no rush to go charging out to harder areas and will happily mine and chop. Just that the inventory fills up with so much stuff that doesn't seem to place into the Solace storage like all the elemental parts or gems.
Then I accidentally changed a wall section which now has a half stone wall and a quarter wood wall and doesn't seem to be removeable, as any part I attempt to place just says obstructed; and doesn't get a remove or destroy message.
Use woodworking to craft storage crates (not decorative ones, they don't hold anything.) You can't access them from across the map at another crate like you can solaces. I tend to have a couple at each crafting station to hold the appropriate mats, recipes, and special drops.
When you clear a tower and defeat the big fire elemental(s) there will be a treasure chest. After you loot it, usually 3 or 4 items, you can 'pick-up'. These have more storage slots than crates and you will soon need a treasure chest to hold your treasure chests.
If your inventory is too full to get the materials you need to make more space, 'drop' it, it will be a little bag on the ground at your feet. These seem to be persistent as I have come across ones I dropped early in my game trying to clear up some space.
As for the building, under the skills tab on the very top is a set of basics that you don't have to train, like attack and teleport home. Among these is one that looks like a hammer that will destroy building blocks. Beware as once you turn it on, it is on and you will remove everything you click until you turn it back off (same button.) You also get the resources back when 'uncrafting' using this method so don't be too afraid and make sure you have room in your inventory.
Obviously mining only raises when harvesting actual ore veins and with them being so few and so little, forces us to leave the safety of starting area.
The basic skills do they ever get trained ... it did seem strange to have basic skills that couldn't be clicked on to raise.
As far as skilling up the basic skills (or masonry for that matter), no, there are no upgrades.
Glad I could help.
How can I do that? ... I made several bags and it seemed to indicate extra slots but couldn't see how to put anything into them.
I did manage to put a back pack onto the inventory screen that gave an extra 5 inventory slots. but there's only one slot available for that. Also the treasure chests are great for general storage.
And good advice on a sorting system for them.
