Phantom Ray Opinions? Counters for it?
Personally I think its too spammable and shouldn't have armor, otherwise love the new unit and think its a nice addition. Also if you don't mind list any counters you find to help out people struggling against it personally I find Wasp, Mustang and Typhoons shred it however when armored you want to use marksman and phoenixes unless you have your own.

Multi targeting Melting points work quite well.
Yo man,

We played together but neither of us got them out.
I still haven't found a real use for it so far. They fire slowly is the main thing I noticed

I won three games off it in spite of lags making it impossible to deploy strategically. Great unit, albeit I was aerial in 2/3.

In one game, the opponent had relatively tanky vanguard and would snipe them from afar. I think this is quite effective strategy, but I bought those flying snipers after and won.
I so far find them quite underwhelming despite some strong possible use cases.

I went 10-3 yesterday and all my opponents went Phantom Ray. Usually Anti Air Marksman
with Fangs in front of them work them down pretty fast. 1 hit 1 kill.

but also Mustang Anti Air completely destroy them on same level

The one thing they are insane though is their single target dps with cloak and 10rocket tech.
They do ~ 58K damage on level 1 with one burst of rockets but then need some 7 seconds recharge.... thats ~ 116K for a level 2 in 1 burst.

if you have decent chaff clear these things are super good to kill all kind of remaining giants or tanky Scorpions in 1 burst.

If you go tanky phantom i think it counter mustang but the concept of a medium close range air unit is not viable just because anti air specialisation exists.

Is cloak supposed to neutralized aa spec ? But a good creep coverage will reveal phantom anyway.

I saw a preview of them on youtube. Just seemed like a weaker sandworm in the sky that you have to tech for the stealth. They never gave me problems in the few games I played in. Maybe people haven't learned to use them yet
I have had somewhat good luck with packs of fangs around flanks to prevent cloaking rays getting around my main board.
I had a 4VS Match today.
One guy had only this unit, nothing else.

He ruined the AI and all of us.
I picked 80% anti air, another had 7 worms with anti air and lvl 6.

But this guy with 20x phantom on lvl 3 killed everything.
Even phantom lvl 3 vs worms lvl 6 - no chance.
I had 5 farseer with range and everything, 4x fortress on lvl 5.

He killed everything with lvl 3-4.
Completley op
Just spam them, Camo thing and 10xrockets and they'll destroy everything.

That sounds like a terrible comp... spamming a low range unit that's weak against chaff and then making its chaff clear even weaker.

AA wasps or stangs plus some fangs or crawlers would just demolish that.
Very weak unit and I dont get why they added it, we didnt need another flying unit.
We need another chaff unit and more ground units at 300, pointless addition to the game.

Unit is very weak, best counter is phoenix with range, if they go cloak just put down some fangs and then snipe them with phoenix with range or EMP or both.

The unit is completely helpless against emp.
Kinda like them, they are pretty useful as harrasing units or 2. line supporters.

Also with the oilbombs and fire from vulcans or stormcallers they can melt all chaff. Not the cheapest method to do it, but still decent enough if you have some chaff of you own in front of them.

they aren´t weak against chaff.
I have lots of matches with spamming these guys and they will destroy really everything.
Lvl 3-4 can destroy 4-5 giants in seconds. Even if giants are lvl 6 or 7.
Against the cloaking tech, AA MM are pretty effective - they only need one hit at a high level.

They are absolutely weak against chaff... they overkill to the extreme, have tiny splash radius that doesn't even kill 2 fangs in default formation and fire very slowly. Meanwhile due to their short range, any unit with Anti-Air will target them the whole time, meaning by the time they get through your waves of chaff they are likely all dead. Since the patch I've faced many players attempting to spam Rays (naturally, its a new toy), and unless they go oil + fire (in which case they usually don't have the econ to get the upgrades needed for them to take on giants) Rays just get stuck on staggered waves of fangs/wasps/crawlers, it's extremely easy to beat.
