Map hacks?
At this point, I'm pretty convinced map hacks are a thing. I positioned to flank on turn 3, opponent defended just that flank same turn, left the other undefended. Attacked the other flank turn 6. Again, positioned to counter one the same time.

This sort of things happen quite often. I think hacks must be possible, because as soon as you end your turn you can see everything the other player is doing, all you'd need to do is manipulate that somehow? Anyone know?

You can watch the fight yourself, or through a friend as spectator, then you know what your opponent is doing. At least, that was possible in the past and possibly still now.

They added a forced delay for spectators some time ago to address that issue.

if something like this is the case you can just place your units on one side wait till near the end of the timer and quickly move them to the other side.
but otherwise its just one of those things you can never really know unless you move your units back and forth then go watch the replay and see if they matched your movements clip it and send it in and/or report the dude

Sometimes you don`t have money to protect both flangs, so you kinda protect one. Or just put anti-flank missile on remaining 50G. By pure luck that was the flank you decided to push on your turn.

Hard to say from that. It could also just be the opponent able to read ahead... like: "What move is my opponent most likely to go for in this situation? How much can I afford to try and block it?"

The replay might hold more info as others mentioned, which could provide the answers you seek, or at least another clue to work off of.

I know, it COULD be a mixture of game sense and luck. Hitting the right flank at the right time, given the unusual timing of my push is really suss though. And this is the most obvious example I've seen, usually other players are smart enough to at least protect both flanks so it doesn't look quite so obvious, but still seen a lot of deeply suspicious counters.

Unfortunately I didn't save the replay, I'm not the best loser, so to stop myself saying something dumb in chat I just leave asap when stuff like that happens. Only afterwards think that I wish I had saved it.

Like I say, the fact that you can immediately see your opponents moves as soon as you end your turn makes me think it must be possible to do. So many players who wait till the last second to finish their turn, so many perfect counters against non-standard tactics, nothing is going to convince me its not happening at this point.

I wouldn't care to try to convince you either way, personally. Hacks and the like are always a possibility in the digital medium, and though to me it takes the fun out of a game, there are those out there that will go to great lengths to cheat. The important thing isn't whether it's possible or not, but to gather evidence against those that are allegedly doing it, and/or developing counter-measures against it if appropriate.

Without evidence, there's no way to prove guilt or innocence, though I do think it's generally wise to assume innocence by default. Both for this sort of thing and as a general practice. Investigate further if you can, yes, but not assume guilt without solid proof.

I wish you well in your endeavors, and that you have fun and enjoy your games and matches.

It's just like chess, gotta think ahead of your opponent. Not hacks. Play, observe, learn, get better.

As explained, the counters can not be explained by thinking ahead, they were objectively bad moves.

Hope that helps.

Theres the bottom, middle, and top of the spectrum. you either faced someone supremely dumb or smart. the chances of you facing someone smart in this game if your elo is low is slim to none. You faced an idiot that clicks buttons. its 90% of the people in here. These same people think that using a nuke is a well thought out play.

some decision are hard to explaine like my op buying interceptors while i had 0 missiles or units that fire them ...

but if i have op that play hard counter and place them exacly where i place my units it's rather hard to explain

it's visible when you play lol units that have very little use in battle and opstill counters that
