unlimited spidemine is garbage
300 credit unit has unlimited respawn unit

not even the WF can do that anymore. Any sense here?

Unlike other units, the spider mine does not have techs of its own, it is basically a melee unit, it dies when it attacks, and it can damage your own units when it dies. If the spider mine did not have friendly fire and did have techs of its own that can make it even stronger than an unteched spider mine, then it might be an issue for the tarantula to be able to spit out spider mines infinitely.

The Sandoworm's Larva also don't get their own tech either. That's why until they got pretty significant buffs the Larva techs were the worst ones to put on the Worm.

As to the OP; Because like the Rhino's self destruct it comes with the risk of heavily damaging or outright killing their own side's units. It also causes the Tarantula itself to briefly pause to fire off the mines, which can be bad depending on the situation.

Spider mines aren't really that good. They almost never reach the enemy and serve poorly as chaff. I think they need to be buffed/reworked somehow to be usefull. It is a waste of resources to use this tech right now. The only thing this tech has is the unlimited spawns. Take that away and the tech would be worthless.

Spiders mines have a critical mass which wipes itself out once that mass is reached. If you can't dish out 750 damage to it at maximum range, because you are complaining how it produce infinite of them, probably for FFA. Then you have other problems, it's not the mines.
