Mechabellum

Mechabellum

Why so many noobs in 2v2?
I'm not complaining about all the losses i'm getting as i know i can just go 1v1 to combat that issue but why does 2v2 (at least from my experience) always have so many bad players? I've met people that are 1000 ELO higher than me and they lose to the easiest comps ever, i'm by no means a good player but even i know to not spam rhino vs mass overlords, it seems the really bad players just surf 2v2 and hope someone will come along and carry them for easy wins, i've actually kept track of my wins to losses in 2v2 over this past week, wins - 12 - losses - 41 and all those losses were my teammates leaking around 80% or more of their wave each time while i was winning mine, anyone else find this to be a thing or am i just unlucky with my teams?

That's usually how it works. Easier to play when you have someone else on your back, and easier to dink around. That's why I stick to 1v1s to learn this game and 4-player FFA for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around. teamgames are only ever good when you have a friend.

"dud u neva even seAn the skillz i hev in dis gem, i jump shot nut shot headshot u from a maile away wit dese skilz and 360 nuu scopA u in da butt bcuz i beta dan juuu man. git guud dkhd"

-a typical encounter in a competitive game such as mechabellum.

on a serious note, almost everyone in 2v2 tries a hard middle push and IT DOESN'T ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ WORK BRAHHHHS (compact or regular) and siege they try flanking too much and flanking isn't nearly as important in that mode from either side.
For 2v2 with random partner you always need some luck during matchmaking.
But at the end it's 50:50 of the matches where you get a weaker one, or whether you are yourself the weaker one.

The biggest disadvantage I see is when playing with a random partner against a premade team. Even when all players have the same MMR, the random team is often weaker.
So for me it would be best to never match a random team with a premade team.
Don't forget the season just reset not long ago. Also, new balance changes and a new unit has players still adjusting their strategy and we're seeing an mmr fluctuation as players adjust.

Give it some time and you will see player mmr begin to reflect their ability once again.

Yeah and i do play with them in 2v2 but i'm talking about just a casual 2v2 with randos

I have played a fair amount of 2v2 with random team mates. I think if you go into these games with an open mindset, you can have a good bit of fun. Some games you carry, some games you get carried. If you feel you always carry, or you always lose because of your team mate, then it may be best to play with a regular team mate.

Being able to coordinate in voice chat is definitely an advantage, but that also requires setting things up. I'm fine with playing with random partners, and you can certainly do 1600 or so that way. Just don't have high expectations and it'll be all right.
i find it more infuriating that I only have 2v2 normal activated, but still get into 2v2 siege and compact.

Yes, that is frustrating. I do not check/want "compact", yet that is half the maps I get.

more bugs the dev hasn't fixed yet? can you tell him since you are a mod and must have a line of comms with him?

I don't believe it is a bug. The system just favors queue time over map preference, and I can see the point of that. Yes, I have a more direct line to the developers, but I don't usually use it to promote my own personal preferences -- unless it is like "no CP loss" for losses. :) The devs often have solid reasons for their decisions, an while I don't always agree, I don't believe that I always know better than they do. There are multiple approaches that are equally valid. The devs in general try to look at the greater picture.

I do try to forward community opinions, though.

alright that's fair enough. i do see the point in it as well, it just gets old when you specifically don't want X and X keeps showing up lol

I don't disagree. If I want to wait 5 minutes extra to not get compact maps, I should have that option. Working on it!

2vs2 is a noob mode. Players who want a real competition play 1vs1.
