mustangs can also help deal with chaff and wasp with range and AA tech.
OL plasma can be intercepted so its always good to get a couple sabertooths if they pop up
wasp range and AA is a powerplay but it does work and forces the opponent to invest in another unit like mustangs to counter it.
look at what tech they got if they dont have range you can get your own OL with range to counter them as well.
fort aa works really well against a massive clump of air or if their air remains still for a time.
so if they have all their wasp on the back line flanking with a fort with aa and and chaff of some sort could be a move. if you have sabertooths you could also cuck any OL they have back their as well.
if they lack ground units a couple storms are great on the flanks or even as a direct approach.
one melting point is usually enough as well if they start getting too many levels that your marks cant keep up.
Thankfully the wasp production has been quite nerfed as it was overly punishing before. That being said you should always have some kind of dedicated AA by round 4 so that your opponent can't suddenly pivot into lots of Air units.
Elite Marksmen will finish Overlords. The problem is that most people have almost no faith in the marksman unit. If you do a triple recruit of Elite Marskmen with Range+EMP techs that will get rid of the "boats" in short order (Elite tech can also work in place of EMP if you had a few leveled marksmen before the boats appeared and were not "blindsided"). The problem then becomes the wasp production chaff tech.
If the board isn't covered in fire you can use Mustangs with +Range. Those will make very short work of the Wasps as well as single target ground chaff that will prevent the Marskmen from shooting the boats. If you have Typhoons they are much more resilient to fire but will need the AA upgrade. Mustangs will almost certainly get torched unless they have both the AA upgrade and range upgrades.
If you use Mustangs you shouldn't forget the "Missile Interceptor" tech, because it not only works against the missiles of Stormcallers, but also against the shots of the Overlords! With enough Mustangs and the Missile Interceptor, the Overlords' shots will no longer reach their target.
