Damn.
The way this kinda game should have worked was not having these insane dealbreakers but instead more of a strong chess match played quickly.
The problem with " a nuke unit or item" is it removes player agency. Its basically like using a slot machine, pulling the lever and winning, then claiming you have skill and knew you could win that round.
In the end, this is why you don't hear about auto battlers in the gaming news space much, because it isn't about skill and outplaying your enemy at the end of the day.
Thats fully correct. A melting point only needs to suck the life of 1500 crawlers to heal itself.
I love it when people use their brain for thinking instead of their penis.
@echoeversky
What is your rank in the world ladder of MMR, 1vs1 and 2vs2 ?
Number one since months I guess. If not, proof your point by doing so. I bet that you will fail the audience 100%.

Melting point are just fk OP that's all.
ergo most games will feature melting points.
if opponent has no crawlers or a lot of mustang, you don't go vulcan.
if opponent is light on mid sized units, you don't go overlord.
if opponent has a lot of air or chaff, you don't go sand worm.
if opponent has a lot of chaff paired with stormcallers, you don't go fortress.
but, if enemy has vulcan/overlord/sandworm/fortress, you can go melting point, as it counters every giant unit.
there's a few times you don't go melting point, like if the enemy has poor positioning or did a mistake in what giant to buy first, and you are beating them despite their giant. then you can go something else than melting point to make room for your mid sized units and to seal the deal.
im not an expert, actually a beginner, but ive seen quite a few streams now, and it seems people counter nelting points with worms, saw lvl 5 worm kill 3 MPs, honestly dont know their levels but still
as you said it seems positioning is key
you know what you just said is basically "you dont need melting point if your opponent is bad"
