Devs- Giant Class Spam feels bad- How to fix.
In my opinion, games that end with spamming Overlords or whatever, to brute force down an opponent and abruptly end the game with a windfall of 400 pt survivors.. it just feels bad.

What I would suggest to do to fix this, is introduce an additional resource in the game required to build Giant Class mechs, thus limiting the amount of Giants anyone can build.

Could just make units deal damage proportional to their remaining HP, if the goal is to reduce the HP swings in lategame giant spam scenarios.

The giant units are meant to be end game units. They are already very expensive, to unlock and buy/upgrade. Not sure why giant spamming at the end of a game is an issue? That's the whole point, you start with small units and by the end it's giant wars.

Good start, you are being honest I give you that at least.

Many who have such complaints/requests/opinions want the game to suit them. But as said above, you already said it was your opinion.

Reality is, and regardless of what I think of it and how it can be abused every game is about spamming 1, 2 or maybe 3 units. You tech them, you commit to them and then make more regardless of it being giant or not. THAT IS THE GAME LOL.

So basically you want some sort of cap on giant units.

Well, then please, this is the general discussion and that means you are in the wrong section of the forum to post suggestions. Ask a mod to move your post, or write it there if making such suggestion is really what you want.

EDIT: Actually there is already a post https://steamcommunity.com/app/669330/discussions/1/4337609189096937327/

Not necessarily, you can also swarm with high teched non-giant units. That's a valid strategy too (though its even spammier <- yeah that's a word).

But then you'll have someone who want to prevent that too, and will make his voice heard in the forum (basically saying "I want the game to be more like I want it to be, regardless of others liking it as the devs intended it to be")... :D

I think he could have been a bit more specific, but the issue if there is an issue is probably that it becomes extremely swingy once the giants start hitting the board. And investing in giant-spam gives a return on winning rounds that a similar investment in teched out midrange units or chaff doesn't.

This is an idea. But the swings would probably still favor giants, hp items would become stronger, stronger armor tech weaker cost contr, punished snipers/phoenixes. So like a bunch of unforeseen side-effects that we probably don't want.

This would require a complete redesign of all giant units and their tech as they are currently designed to be spammed like other units. Idk if it's worth the time/effort and it might cause new problems so probably not.

Maybe add tech to dmg output of units (every tech adds like 20-25 percent more player dmg to the unit, maybe make it less for giants), and add more player health to compensate for the added dmg. Or mby player regen so that the added health doesn't kick in until the later rounds, that way aggro isn't unintentionally nerfed.

I'm just gonna give up. The more I play this game, the more I realize it just blows. Another winning game get's robbed by 2 rounds of overlord spam. It just feels bad in slow motion.
Nonafel Jun 10, 2024 @ 7:26pm
The speed increase for the overlord missiles made it to where crawlers didn't distract them, the crawlers just died.
So lowering the speed the missiles fly would help, but generally at higher ranks overlord spam doesn't do much. Surprise beacon and jump drive stuff however is balls to play against.

How to kill a overlord : charged shot + Ranged Phoenix; Air Specialization + Range + Elite marksman Sniper or wasp; Ranged Overlord; Range + Damage + Air spec Mustang; Range Melting point; Air Ammo + Elite Marks + Range Arclight; Airbarrage Fortress spam... And then there is abilities and tactics to flank with chaff to keep them busy....

OH. So it wasn't a game balance critique. You're just a salty lil baby boy.

I agree, I don't think overlord is too strong

Giant killer card was basically making them bad but now that that is gone I have noticed some pretty unfun swings. At times you'll get a free unit drop plus Giant spam and it's impossible to stabilize.

I wonder what this game would look like if you maxed out at 6-8 giants?

Remove the unit limit so that I can spam cheaper stuff rather than be forced to buy giants to consume my money every round.
