Flood it with low HP targets like swarmers and wasps so it can't ramp up it's damage. Make it waste time on shields. Shell it with artillery.

MP is the reason (with rocket punch fortress) why i have EMP on stormcaller, once they are EMP you can outrange them with fortress or orvelord ground artillerie or just your own MP.
EMP barrage and crawler invocation are very strong in the MP mirror, if your opponent don't have them, you are guarantied to win the mirror

Swarms of units and EMP. Vulcan + upgraded Melting point is very strong combo though late game.

I often use Stormcaller to destroy these units, but mainly because it complements my way of playing.
In general, their recharge speed and level are sufficient to destroy them without EMP, but this is often because I have a lot of units like Sledgehammers that take the beam, and prevent the Melting Point from healing too much.
If they really are too much of a problem, I opt for Wasps with EMP, or EMP on Sledgehammers with range.

late arriving chaff

The answer is very dependent on MMR. But a very easy solution is storms. 4 storms with EMP can pretty much EMP anything regardless of missile intercept. Most of the time you don't even have to turn EMP on if you get levels on the storms.

Follow that up with crawlers or rangs.

Best answer is usually your own melting points

A lot of problems in match can usually be explained with chaff. Melting points struggle when the opponent has a lot of chaff. As in crawlers and fangs. Make sure you have enough chaff to actually keep your heavier hitting units alive. Stagger them out so they don't all die in the first 5 seconds of a round. Have some in the front and some in the back that will run in later to keep protecting units. Also if the opponent is going melting points + vulcans and wiping out your chaff try throwing in some wasps to distract the melting points and not dying to the vulcans. If you have enough chaff then next depends. Are you killing their chaff in time? If not you'll need more chaff clear. Units like arclights, stormcallers, wraiths, vulcans, fire badgers, etc. Ones that clear out the little distraction units quickly with aoe damage. If you have enough chaff clear too then make sure you have enough heavy hitters or support. EMP of some form that will still be alive to shoot the melting points if they have techs is a good investment. Heavy hitters will be... well... units that hit heavy really. Scorpions, fortresses, marksmen, melting points, etc. Usually slow firing high damage. These are the units that will kill the melting points while they're distracted with your chaff.

I know I haven't said any specific details but the game boards are always changing so you'll have to be adaptable. a lot questions for strategies in this game will come up with an "it depends" because there's so many variables to consider.
