Time to uninstall
By playing 175h I can now say that I will pause playing for a fequent of time forward. I love the game but I hate melters. They are to good and to cheap. Ive been flaming about this twice before. Its not that I dont like the unit but it needs a nerf.. Now you can easily destroy a close and even lategame by simply putting up 3-4 melters in a single round. It usually ends by me loosing 1200-1600 life in a single sweep.

I have also put up suggestions to how to nerf it:
* Maximum amount.
* Maximum one/round
* Price/upkeep (500 + 100 upkeep would still win the game).
* Shortened range+attack vs flyers.
* Reduced attackspeed (picking new target) or slower attack inccrease
* Reduced lifegain overall/decreased lifegain over time
* Unable to carry equipments
* ZERO lifeloss on second, third, fourth fifth and sixth melter.

Dont get me wrong! I dont find it impossible to beat - But this unit is only situational possible to beat. If you let it advance to let say level 2-3, and it gets some friendy friends with a second and third, its quite often totally destroyed gaming experience.....

THE AMOUNT OF TIME I will stay out of this game is all by the future developement of balance patching.. Based on me flaming (and suggesting) serval months ago with no response on 2-3 last balancepatch it might take time before I will reeinstall the game.

If (as I presume) not too many people share your hate, you will probably not ever reinstall the game.
Have a good time somewhere else.

let me guess you spam overlords then get mad that the main counter to them beats them.
because all your suggested nerfs would make the spam of any other giant unit more viable and would need to be applied to all giant units not just melting points.
otherwise people would just move on to the next version giant spam and you would complain about that too. unless thats what your already doing.

like everything else they are really good at what they do and thats single target elimination so if you have alot of high hp single targets and cant defend your chaff or you dont have enough. its gonna slap theres a reason why everyone runs mothership on overlords

Melters are not the Problem, they are many more Ultra Evil Strats Things in this Game ;)

this is literally the only time I've seen anyone claiming MPs are overpowered. You are definitely in the minority there are plenty of ways to counter them.

Seems like you just want to spam overlords without being countered.

"3-4 Melters in a single round" ... yeah, about that, aside from the fact this is impossible unless you get offered a specific reinforcement card, even 3 Melters cost 1200 res plus 300 for the lifeleech upgrade + 50 to place a third unit. So we are talking very late game here. But, aside from that, what you describe is a classic BAIT AND SWITCH. Your opponents simply outsmarted you - they didn't play the counter right away, they waited for you to double-down on your strategy and switched to the counter a round later, so it hits harder.

ANY unit you put down in triples to counter a player that relies heavily on a specific unit/strategy will crush that opponent for obvious reasons. It would be strange if it wouldn't. The probleme here seems to be lack of diversification in your build or to be a case of resting too much on your laurels while the game seems to be heading in your favour. Probably both.

But taking a break after 175 hours seems like a good thing to do. I am currently doing the same after 75 hours pre-release + an about the same amount in beta. not because the game is bad or broken (aside from the ranking but I don't care for ranks), Mechabellum is just too small and repetitive to be continously played for hundreds of hours. Currently it's Rimworld where I spent hours. Mechabellum is a game to fire up once a while for a few short games now. And that's perfectly okay.

I like how people are saying that melts counter Overs when it's the exact opposite. An over with ground cannons delete melts before they can even do anything. If you are losing to melts with an overlord you need to readjust your play style.

It's 50/50 depending on the upgrades and levels. A level 1 Melting Point will beat a level 1 Overlord in a 1v1 assuming they both are unupgraded. But yes, don't chuck Melting Points at Overlords unless under very specific circumstances. Marksmen are far better against Overlords anyway and cheaper long term.

We had another thread about it recently and it was pretty bad

Ultimately MPs suck against overlords because they rely heavily on upgrades, and overlords will quickly scale to spawning EMP wasps. There's a very hard time limit on the matchup
