overlords are too useful
Overlords need some kind of a nerf. I am tired of every other game facing overlord spam. Its not like there aren't any counters but they don't work well enough in my opinion to counter mass overlord. There is a reason everyone is using them. At least get rid of the damn photon emission tech

Their counters work fine. When you lose, it's not usually because of one unit type, it's the result of compounding errors before the Overlord spam.

Apart from photon coating that thing does nearly nothing. Usualy its too risky to deploy it early in the game, cause marksmans/phoenixes hardcounter it and mustangs with AA upgrade counter it too.

It depends. It they do it unexpectedly later in the game it is hard to deal with overlord spam if you weren't already prepared to do so. Other than that though it's pretty much fair game and not too difficult to deal with.

I play overlords->Garunteed win by round 7.
Opponent plays overlords->Opponent wins by round 5.
Chat: "Build marskman to counter overlords!"
*Marksmen die repeatedly*
Yeah they need a huge nerf or rweork.

Marksmen? Mustangs with AA and phoenixes are way better against Overlords.

Mustangs don't work on Overlords. If you try it they'll just grab the armor upgrade.

Marksmen, Phoenix, Melting Point work fine, as long as you have something to clear wasp spawn.

if your army losses on ground overlords are just cherry on top also you need meat around marks man for them to live long enought to kill overlords, range upgrade is a must elektromagnetic shot also helps and you must watch what tech op have if:
1- op have armor tech - makrsman and phoenix with range
2- spawning wasps - mustanga plus marks man with elektromagnetic shot

It as usual depends how the opponent plays the Overlord. They can be very oppressive. Its hard to suddenly counter a 2-3 Overlord drop in a later round as the formations are already established. Especially nasty if the opponent is Elite Specialist. But the same thing can be said about any Giant unit in the lategame with established formations. Fortresses, Melting Points and Vulcans can all drop suddenly and be too much to effectively counter before they destroy you 1-2 rounds later. But thats the beauty of the game :)

Overlords are a "feels bad, man" unit. 100% guaranteed to make a lot of players leave if they aren't adjusted, regardless of whether they're balanced or not. They're hard to counter, can be re-positioned EVERY round, can come in behind your lines as a drop-in card, and usually mean an easy win in round 3 or 4. Countering them is at best obtuse and generally a pain, assuming you can pull that off.
They also act as a gigantic "win harder" button if someone is already behind.

I feel the need to say after the last patch or two the units i face most often now by far are marksmen. Then stormcallers, then overlords. Overlords did get a bit of a nerf in the form of a slight ability cost increase
Kopernik Jun 17, 2023 @ 3:09pm
if you lose ground level and op just buy big untis to finish you off then yes its impossible to turn around its hard to give advice without seeing you play but overlords dies fast if op dont savekeep them. i dont see them as oppersive as that and i usually have combos marksmans/balls (balls keeps them from attacking marksman) or melting point/mustang (mustangs can shot down overlords missiles and wasps if produced)
