Overlord with Groundcannon should be able to do it?
Does Weapon Overload affect the Groundcannon btw?
The Rhino can not affect the Overlord - and that i am not knowing but the Rhino Explosion is affecting Ground Units but not Air Units i guess?
My man here can vouch for hackers for sure 🤣
I am gonna play around a bit more with it, maybe someone will find a counter, but it does feel unfairly strong.
I do agree, the games balance is very good. But I do feel that Rhinos are still too strong. Every second game you see Rhino spam with Photon Coating and Final Blitz. Just add one Rhino every round, left, right and on the flanks. One will reach the tower or blow up half your army. Next step, add Phoenix or Overlords behind and you win.
You can counter Rhinos with balls and hackers, but since a new one is coming every round with the movement ability and you don't know where it comes, it gets really hard to counter that style of play. And fortresses and overlords are expensive and slow.
I played 150+ hours in the playtest and I'm currently in the top 50 in my division. I'd say I know a bit about this game. I'm fine with everything you can do in this game exept Rhino spam. There's a reason you see Rhinos nearly every game. And when you see them, they'll get Coating and Blitz, every time.
If I'm missing something against them, please enlight me.
Please, tell me that way, you sound like we are just whining and it's no problem to counter that style of play.
Hackers aren't the solution in my opinion. They hack the Rhino, but then your opponents Units shoot the Rhino while it is close to your units and it explodes. And they put Rhinos on the flank with movement command and you don't know where the Rhinos are coming from.
I started to play with this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ myself. I hate it but I am getting points. So whatever.
Or stalling long enough so that photon wears off.
You sound like the enemy has it all - they have perfect positioning so that their rhinos won't explode their own units, they can shoot hacked rhinos immediately, and somehow they can flank you perfectly well even with the flanking delay.
Well, if they're so good compared to you - perhaps rhinos aren't the problem, but you playing badly is.
True, didn't want to imply that there wasn't a way. I am also not even complaining about suicide rhinos, I personally can deal reasonably well with them.
The Rhino + Beacon combo just seems quite strong and hard to counter.
Again not impossible, just very hard (almost impossible) to counter without spending more on the counter, then he did on the rhino + beacon.
Steel Balls also beat a Rhino in a "fair" fight (such that "fair fights" exist in this game). And pretty soundly too, which actually surprised me first time I saw that (thought the Rhino would take out more of the unit before I tested it). Plus if the Rhinos have their self-destruct you can give the Balls Division to have Crawlers come out after the big boom and stay ahead on board (provided the Crawlers are useful and won't immediately get incinerated by a Vulcan or something).
Note for Mobility Beacon is that a unit will still stop to fight anything directly in its path, so Steel Balls can still intercept a Rhino if you can put them in the predicted path, this might only help for one round pending the opponent, but it can make a solid difference, and possibly force a longer or more damaging path in future rounds.
Ideally, as mentioned above, a Hacker with any useful screening unit (even one weak to Rhinos like Crawlers) will turn it into an ally and "probably" not blow up in your face immediately, though that's not equivalent in cost like Steel Balls or Phoenix/Wasps (and the fliers won't make a Rhino headed for the middle of your army/tower stop and fight),.
