Maybe things will change down the line, but right now the single-player modes are not even the same game, even if the AI was any good. They are very much just little add-ons to the main multi-player event.
With that being said, it's not an RTS, and although the rounds are timed, it's much closer to Turn-Based than Real-Time.
Singleplayer exists purely as practice to help new players learn the game before jumping into multiplayer. It has poor AI, even at the highest levels, and quickly becomes repetitive and boring. (And that's only in regards to the skirmish mode. The survival mode is just a broken and unfun mess).
I guess I will keep it in the wishlist and see if this adds some singleplayer content in the future.
I really enjoyed TABS so I would like to have another auto battle game. Does anyone knows any good one for single player?
But now thinking even if the AI isn't enhanced, or new single player content added, it might be worth trying out, if it goes on sale. 5 to 10 hours of entertainment could be worth it, if the price is right.
It'll be free to play when it comes out of early access. Should have some more or better singleplayer content then.
Don't know about any other decent autobattlers, though. Have you tried mods for TABS? Tons and tons of content that would extend the replayability of that game.
Yes, I tried tons of mods, but after some point I just want to try a different game.
I checked a few autobattlers on the store, but nothing looks too impressive. I guess I will wait and check the store from time to time.
If you truly watch for autobattlers, though, you don't need to wait much because there is no better one out there. You could wait for it to become FTP, though, which is scheduled to become a thing withon less than a year.
If you're too good I imagine the bot is pretty easy to counter, you can predict a lot of things it'll do and if you're better than me I'm sure it's not much of a challenge.
Hoping that these single-player modes get more love in the future.
So in the end it's just trying to synergize the RNG thrown at you, which can lead to some fun results sometimes, but is usually just frustrating and annoying. Shame, as it's a fun game otherwise.
They're not actually player-made though, right?
I actually like doing that too for a stress-free experience. The bot largely ignores what the player is doing, and it's predictable (especially with flanking), but sometimes it does interesting things too. I could see them making it a worthwhile sparing partner with some tweaking.
To OP, as everyone else has said, it's largely a multiplayer game, but you can also approach it like a SP game by turning off the chat and just think of your opponents as bots! The only downside is the timer.
