balls are utter garbage fortesses one shot each ball and if they get punch they wipe out entire packs.
Melter is the only reliable counter to forts (and obviously air sort of as it is conditional due to AA barrage). Punch was a very poor design choice to add to forts you made a short range tankiest unit in the game one of the best damage dealers as well. Also forts and melters should never have been given tech that spawns chaff as their only weakness was being able to focus fire them which is hard to do when they spew chaff out every 13 seconds.
Counter the AA ability of fortress with with EMP if need be, but usually a few levels or a shield upgrade is all that's needed to protect your air force from AA missile volleys.
-----
Lategame would just use melting points/overlords.
just wrong infact forts are the counter to balls not the other way around.
balls are good vs fortress if they have mechanical division gives them time to stack up dmg
mp melts forts
As long as players only focus on the units they buy but not on the placement, timing of upgrades and tower abilities etc. they will always lose no matter what
