thx for the effort <3
If my math is right, then Ignite is better in most relevant situations and 50 res cheaper:
Kiic pointet out that my math is indeed wrong, the attack rate is 0,1/sec
Scorching Flames vs sledges:
88+110 (88*1,25) = 198 dps
88+110 (88*1,25) = 198*10 = 1980 dps
Ignite vs sledges
88+195.84 (3264 *0,06) = 283.84 dps
88*10 + (3264 *0,06 = 195.84) = 1075.84 dps
This is lev 1 and as damage and hp growth is proportional there will be no difference on equal level. Against lower level units Scorching Flames scales better , while against higher level units Ignite scales better.
Scorching Flames is better against crawlers and mustangs, but vulkans are already good enough against them. While Ignite makes vulkans better aganist tanky units and mildly effective against giant units.
The only use case for Scorching Flames i see is lev 3 Fangs with shield, lev 5 crawlers from cards and shields but using vulkans to break shields instead of suporting them with shield-breakers seems wasteful to me.
Has Scorching Flames a use i do not see?
An breakdown of all hp/damage breakpoints would be nice to have as a guide, but also ton of work.
could have just used 88* 2,25 for + 125%
I tested a "real life" scenario just now. It was like lev 2 vulcan+2x crawler + marksman vs 3x lev 2 steel ball + 3x crawler. With scorcing flame, the vulcan team defeated the enemy in like 20sec (i use vulcan mostly vs steel balls apart from the obvious stuff and this kind of rush is just the scenario). With ignite it defeated them in like 24sec. But it seemed to work really similar and the ignite is 50 cheaper.
I will try it more in game, might be better sometimes. Scorching flame stacks with damage items and if you have 2 vulcans shooting the same target (i sometimes have vs these crazy steel ball all ins) the ignite will not stack
Edit: tested a bunch of other scenarios and scorching flame outperformed significantly
Your math is wrong, vulcan has an attack rate of 0.1 sec .
Base vulcan = 88*10 = 880 dps
scorching flames vulcan = (88+110)*10 = 1980 dps
Ignite vs sledges = 88*10+3264*0.06 = 1075.84 dps
And scorching flames will scale with items and level up.
Ignite is better vs other Giant but you should not use vulcan to deal with other Giant imo.
makes sense, thanks
Nice! Saw it on reddit without the ability description and this addition makes the guide even better.
That being said, I think the icons are currently not assigned correctly. For example, if you open the hacker, the multiple control ability has the green checkmark even though you mention that it's pretty bad.
The checkmarks are meant to indicate what technologies you should equip to the unit. As some units have 5 techs available and 3 of them are bad, some bad technologies need to be equipped. Most of them, like the hacker's multiple control, have some rare situations where it's useful. In the texts I explain in which situation you should buy it for the units and what should be your 1st and 2nd buy. Maybe it's confusing but that's how it is now :)

this bit made me cringe to the very depths of my soul
I was also amused by this. Still nice work on the guide. Really helps the community to have some standard references.
