Hard Survival just too damn frustrating?
Anyone Else find the survival mode extremely frustrating? The hard Difficulty in particular...
I get that its supposed to be hard to win, but from being given a group of useless unit choices that don't counter anything you're up against, to going up against a spam of LVI 5+ units that you could just never beat unless you've somehow both planned ahead, got the right counters previously, and kept them alive and levelled.

I just find the whole game mode stupidly over difficult and pretty much impossible to win. Tried Hard Survival 50 ish times now, and i've only been close to winning once, where my last game was a draw, so it didn't count..

I think the only way to really make it anywhere near fair is to be able to at least re-position a certain % of your units in each round to have any hope of countering what you're up against. And maybe actually allow you to pick your starting units may help to alleviate some of the early game frustrations too.

Oh yeah that mode is ♥♥♥♥♥♥, the AI has such an absurd advantage and usually hard counters you if you're able to win a round

Would put a screen cap here though still, on round 5 I built a tier 2 fortress. and had a few level 3/4 tanks.... yeah the AI next wave flanked me with 2 fortresses, 1 vulcan and a overloard while also having a huge stack of death in front of me..... like wtf is that

If you're looking to beat it you basically need to check your starting units vs. theirs and know when you are hard countered, if you are then just leave.

You also need to learn how to cheese.
Part of the issue of survival mode is really just the rng "choices" it gives you. Like why do we not get the starting setup choices in it like the regular mode and have the rng store of units to pick from? If those were changed yo work more like the regular game it could at least make the mode feel more about knowledge than the luck test it is. It wouldn't fix the sudden 30 level 3-5 wasps with 3 techs swarming you from all sides but that's a different issue.

Yeah at least choosing your starting setup would be a great step in the right direction..

Just played again -
My starting setup was 2 wasps and 3 snipers against 4 mustangs and 2 fangs. So instantly countered on both - 4 out of my 6 unit choices i couldn't afford unless i grab more supplies, and not a single one would have helped against what i was fighting... its just unfun and frustrating

its a bit hard to cheese when on round 5 it spawns 20 lvl 4+ fang units with upgrades and you've only been able to get one vulcan. Or 3 lvl 7 rhinos (which happened to me literally 5 mins ago) with 200% hp addons and no hackers or melting points.

its ridiculous ... not only does it consistently outnumber you with units, they are often significantly higher level and with upgrades and addons... the game economy doesnt allow for you to be able to build up enough to prepare for stupid rounds like that,especially early on. Plus the randomness of what units you can place means there are plenty of rounds when you physically cant counter anything.

They really need to sort out the survival mode. Could have been a great game mode for people not interested in MP, like a mini roguelite mode. Maybe make it easier early on and the difficulty keeps ramping up with unlimited waves.

i had a good match going. 3 level 5 Fortresses, decent cover for them with Range and Mech Rage fangs, some Mustangs and Stormcallers behind. AI decided its time to die and send me 8 Snipers level 7+ with Elite Marksmen, range, double tap and EMP. and a whole lot of chaff, bulky units like a level 5 fortress with 200% extra HP and Air. I surived with 1200 hp and the next round had almost exactly the same setup just more chaff and super high level and full teched phoenixes instead.

This mode is just a lottery. Kind of a shame because its not "Hard" its just unfair. I have no idea how Very Hard and Insane look like but i doubt its fun.

I got to wave 13 with a frontline of high-level sledgehammers (with regen and damage reduction, middle one with the +200% HP item) backed by a variety of damage-dealers. And then got instantly deleted by exploding rhinos. I kind of want to push through and beat the mode, but I also feel that, as implemented, the game mode doesn't work to the strengths of the game.

yeah i hate that round, i have experienced it multiple times now, and no matter what i have is literally unbeatable. It spawns so many high level fangs with full upgrades that one time, i had 4 lvl 4 vulcans with extended range and hp / shield addons. literally didnt matter, the weight of fire just melts them.

and i fully agree, its not hard its just unfair and extremely unbalanced

Fully agree, i keep coming back to it hoping this time it will be different and that its just me being unlucky, but it never is :(

It really needs some sort of overhaul / rework, some way for the player to at least have the chance to counter something they are against
