They will probably end up selling overpowered techs and unit types you can only unlock at the pace they come out if you grind 8 hours a day. The shills will declare that this isn't an advantage because you can get it for free and being locked into a fraction of the options isn't really an advantage because some of those options can counter some of the premium ones.
It's the standard model for f2p competitive games.
Well you can tell your conspiracy theories if you really want to, I am just saying what was announced by the developers, and they repeatedly said that this will not become p2w.
This is the way League of Legends, Smite, every CCG, hell, even fighting and strategy games do it these days and they aren't even free to begin with. Though the free ones being released will certainly do it too. Selling a competitive advantage is the default these days, exceptions are incredibly rare.
I would bet the 20$ I paid to access this before it goes to ♥♥♥♥ against a dollar that this game will end up the same way within a year of release. It'll initially have just cosmetics, then they'll realize they aren't making enough money because the game isn't DotA2 and a small userbase can't sustain the wages required to make cosmetics AND continually update and balance the game so it isn't crap.
I mean one of the main devs of this games has even said in an interview that he hates p2w games and made this game speficially not to be p2w. If that is not going to convince you, there is no convincing you and there is no point in continuing this conversation.
Man... really. What is "pay to win" in mobas? I played Lol, Heroes of the Storm, Smite, Dota, and Paragon.... NONE of them were pay to win. All the things u could buy is the champion packs and tons of cosmetics.
While i totally agree with u on free to play game dev tactics on "pay to win" models, mobas dont do that otherwise they would die out within 2 seconds. The heavy competition with Dota and Lol on the frontline they just cant afford going pay to win.
That is actually very cool to know, thx. Hope this game wont sink, its just epic!
People like you who are oblivious to this fact is why they can get away with it. The vast majority of their playerbase, where all the money comes from, are just casual players that wouldn't notice an advantage if it hit them in the face.
