A simple elo system actually is not very user-friendly, it is for super competitive scenes like professional chess, and most games modify the system to make it less hardcore. In a simple elo system, a player tends to stay in one rank for a very long time, even constantly moving downwards if they do not keep up with the rest of the player base, you can see even the best of best chess players having a downwards trajectory in elo.
Thank you for your reply and glad you are working on it. The divisions you rolled out I think are a great idea.
My concern is CP inflation that makes it harder and harder to get into the top 200 or climb the ladder without a reset. Plus it reduces inter- CP quartile play since everyone is encouraged to only play higher rated players in attempting to climb the ladder. You could then have a group of players who only play each other and exclude anyone outside of a certain CP threshold. These are just my concerns and I'm glad you guys are working on alternatives. AOE2 DE ELO system is explained here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTaAWtuLHuo&ab_channel=SpiritOfTheLaw) as a template. Thanks for working on the game!
