is the game dead

i have been looking around and have seen the borgulus 2 has 1.8 while steam version is on 1.6 nothing online to be found if or when the steam version will be updated

was looking forward to buying this game , untill i found out that steam version seems to be abandoned

A lower version doesn't necessarily mean an inferior version. The version changes could simply be because they had to add specific code for it to work on a different marketplace.

Track down the release notes for each version and see what's changed. Also, WTF is a "borgulus 2"? If you're finding games on sketchy sites with higher versions, it's a common tactic to sucker people in to installing their virus.

Hes referring to the oculus version and the 1.8 update that released 4 months ago.

well ya dhuu i found out when i read that post it clearly states that is oculus exclusive , does not say anything about the steam version if its going to get an update . and thats what i am asking if any one know more , IF steam version is going to get an update also . it kinda is stupid to just abandon steam users like that . i realy feel srry for al those that bought the steam version . hence the referense borgculus2

Yeah it's pathetic that they didn't bother to bring the Spectre update to PC. Massive spit in the face to those that supported the game on this platform, which no doubt helped to fund the quest port in the first place.

Supposedly the update was pretty good so might have actually helped boost the game on the platform, especially if there was a sale. I was going to buy it until I saw they didn't update the PC version.

Usually when people say a game is dead on PC, they mean the multiplayer component is "dead" in the sense that there typically is not any people online to play with anymore because they've moved on to other games.

But this is a single player game... so obviously that doesn't apply here.

I can't even launch this game successfully. I have a quest 2 and hp reverb g2. I see the quest version of this game has gotten a free update and everything, yet here i am with a non-functioning Steam VR of the game. Very frustrating.

It's a single player game... what difference does it make how active the player community is?

All that matters is whether the game functions or not.

I'm not sure why you are focused on multiplayer, nobody is talking about that. They linked what they were talking about in two places. The game is getting updates and stuff in Oculus and has been abandoned in Steam. Meaning anyone who buys this game now, or attempts to play it - is stuck with what they can get. If they can't launch the game? They can't play.
If they can't interact with something? They need to manually adjust any controls via SteamVR, or they just can't play.

That's the concern and what people are asking about. Meanwhile, I'm working through my back catalog and was trying to see why I didn't have this installed, it most likely was due to this sort of thing.

Glad I read this. Its on offer now and I wanted to see if it was worthwhile. As it seems this version is feature incomplete I'll give it a miss. Cheers for the thread!
