Explain to me the logic here.
The idea is to complete the mission in stealth, but on the other hand your knocked out/drugged enemy's wake and alert the base. So what is the point of stealth?
There should be a option to make your darts lethal and/or also some form of indicator to show when enemy's are about to wake so you don't have them wake before you exit the room.
I had cleared a room only to have a bunch of them wake up right behind me.

I see this fuzzy logic as one thing that doesn't make any sense in the game. As it stands, you may as well forget about stealth and just play it as a fps.

I agree with this make them sleep longer depending on where you hit them for example a headshot makes them sleep longer. Or add a melee weapon for example a knife so I can "finish" the guards after I knocked them out.

Yep, I really good game but this is always pulling me out of the immersion. You wake up to the fact that all that carefully planned stealth was a waste of time and you have gained nothing from it.
If they wanted to make stealth more appealing without much work they could keep the soldiers asleep until you left the level. That at least would be something.

It tries to be like Metal Gear Solid, in regards to some of the stealth, the tranq gun you have to rack after each shot, the holdups, and the cameras. What they got wrong is, takedowns, radio checks, the ability to shoot their radios to stop them from calling backup, and nobody goes to check a camera when it's down. Two other little things are, in Espire 1 the noise from gunshots seems to be bugged and the damage is off.

Knocking someone out in MGS puts 3 spinning stars over their head and you can melee them to knock a star off until they wake up or drag and drop their body repeatedly (which also drops extra ammo). They wake up alerted. Other enemies see them knocked out and become alerted.

Hitting someone with a tranq dart in MGS makes him snore and over his head is, "Zzz... Zzz... Zzz..." and it just keeps going for more than a few minutes. As it wears off, I think it goes to "Zz... Zz... Zz..." and "Z... Z... Z...", so you know when they'll wake up. As with knockouts, you can melee or drag and drop to wake them, but it takes more work. If someone else sees a guy sleeping, he'll walk over, kick him in the head, and sternly tell him to get up. When they wake up, they have no recollection of what happened when they were shot.

NPCs in MGS periodically say "sector clear" or something similar, and if they're out cold or dead and don't respond for a while, one of the main characters calls them out and sends backup.

Lastly, it seems like the gunshots are off. Obviously a suppressor doesn't mute a gunshot or make the pew sound, but this is a video game, and to my knowledge no other game (besides maybe Far Cry if you don't headshot) allows other enemies to hear suppressed shots. I score headshots and other enemies hear it. But sometimes when I've tranq darted everyone and go around with a loud SMG killing each one, guys I can hear talking won't bat an eye. The damage is odd too. One (two on anyone with a helmet) headshot kills anyone currently conscious. When they're down, it takes 3 headshots, and recently I think I noticed it was just 3 shots period (didn't have to be the head). It should be more consistent.

I was enjoying the game until about a hour in when little alarm bells started ringing that things aren't quite right with the sounds stealth and enemy AI. You don't know if to stealth, go loud or suck a lolly pop. You don't know if they are alerted or stood down as one will say all clear while another will say he is somewhere around here, find him.

And how are you being stealthy with the clanking of metal when you move and a stealth pistol that sounds like a shotgun.

I'm not too far in. Maybe 4 or 5 missions, so I'm going back and doing all the challenges and finding any weapons I missed. In the 3rd one, it says to perform a stealth takedown on each enemy without being seen in the mess hall. I tranq'd each one before killing them, then destroying the cameras. When I get down to 2 or so enemies awake, a voice comes over the radio and sends backup. I didn't go into slow-mo, let alone make someone's icon turn yellow like he may have saw something, and I still didn't get the challenge. Even when I passed back through the mess hall towards the end, I tranq'd the new guy patrolling without him seeing me.

I got that often. 'Sending backup' but I hadn't a clue why. Maybe they mean sending the tea-trolley with tea and cake.
It's like the AI code is getting all messed up. Even the enemy's don't seem to have a clue what they are suppose to do.
