Note from a Lefty
A quick note to the devs from a lefty. Make grabbing guns equally easy with either hand without it affecting movement. Most devs include a left handed mode, which is great, they're trying, but I feel like they all get one thing wrong. (other lefties feel free to chime in, because maybe it's just me) Most left handed people have adapted to using controllers with two analogue sticks with the left thumb being for movement, and the right being to look. (in the case of vr, turn) Every Vr game that has a left handed mode swaps the movement and look thumbs. In many games, you have two guns and left handed mode isn't even important to a lefty, but in some games (I'm looking at you Doom VFR and Fallout 4 VR) your dominant hand is the one with your main weapon in it, forcing you to choose to aim with your dumb hand, or move with it. I don't get motion sickness super easily, but when my stupid hand is driving I do.

tl;dr: allow left handed main weapon wielding with right handed movement controls, trying to undo decades of muscle memory in VR makes me queasy.

I am lefty too, movement with left controller is just unplayable for us. "Change dominant hand" option is required.

Sure, have it be an option, I'm just saying I'm a lefty and movement with the right controller is unplayable for me, but so is only having my main weapon in my right hand.

We're extremely late on this reply, but thankyou for the great feedback. We will definitely strive to have this option available at launch, if it isn't, i'll make sure it's in an imminent patch!

Yes that is beyond annoying I move with the left analog stick and shoot with my left hand so can the devs please make lefty support .

I'm a lefty, but I'm also cross-dominant so I shoot like a regular right-handed person. This means that for the majority of tasks, I'm absolutely fine to keep the default settings for handedness. Like the OP, I've spent my entire life playing with mouse & keyboard or gamepads designed for righties, so by default I prefer the 'regular' right-handed movement system too! BUT....

Once it gets down to the nitty-gritty and I need to shift to melee combat, the tables are turned. Give me a knife, sword, beating stick, whatever, it NEEDS to be in my left hand!!! And grenades! I can't throw for ♥♥♥♥ with my right hand xD Using my fists, I lead with my left. Grabbing an object and using it - let's say picking up a key and unlocking a door - is very much a left-handed task for me. I've played a fair bit of Blade & Sorcery so I know I don't have any issues with swinging weapons and moving around simultaneously using my left hand. However, my right hand becomes about as useful as a condom stuck in a drainpipe :steamsad:

So I guess what I'm looking for is having the default 'right-handed' settings but with, how would you describe it.. 'Contextual'? With an option for contextual objects and melee weapons to be suited for left-handed pickup and use.

Hopefully this makes sense and I haven't made a complete mess of explaining it Lol Cheers, looking forward to playing Espire in a month! :steamhappy:

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions!

We split this into 2 settings now:
1) The player can choose a dominant hand. This will decide what side of your chest your primary weapon or 'repair tool' will holster to.
2) The player can choose which thumbstick / trackpad is used for movement and which is for snap turn.

Hopefully this will cover all the bases!

Sounds good, so leftys and (?)rightys will be pleased. :)

I just picked the game up and installed it today. I only see the option for choosing the 'movement' hand. What am i missing? I came her becuase I was looking to see if you could use the weapons left handed. Please oh please tell me what I am missing :-)

You have 3 options:
-When you start the game, you can choose your dominant hand. If you select your dominant hand to be LEFT, then when you holster your primary weapon it will appear on the LEFT side of your chest, and your repair tool will be on the right.
-In the menu you can change the hand used for movement. this lets you put thumbstick movement onto the right stick, with snapturns on the left, if you want to.
-You can use any weapon left or right handed, just drop the weapon and pick it up with your other hand. You can also hold and fire different types of weapons at the same time.

What is the reason not allow this in PSVR, yes you can move on the right move, but whats the point if you cant turn in the left move.
