Full controller support ?

But it doesn't recognise the sticks on my Xbox 360 joypad? Unless I faff around with Xpadder or similar? Surely the Xboxone version must recognise the sticks so why could that not have been implemented here? ( I tried to set directions on my sticks for movement but it was not possible).

The sticks on the Xbox 360 are fully recognised. Sticks are already directions for movement by design, you don't need to bind them to anything for that to work, nor are they meant to be bound in the menus due to them serving a special task by design.

Ok thanks I'll re-purchase and give it another try - I was curious about customisation and went to configuration first and encountered that problem.

I want to map the [RIGHT - thumbstick] of the Xbox 360 controller to ascend/descend, but the configuration won't recognise it.

That's not something the game supports, it can only be bound to a binary control. We can investigate the feasibility of it, though.
We're a bit confused however because then you wouldn't have anything to pitch the camera, which is a rather essential part of the game, and that can only reside on a stick. How is it that you want to lay out your controls?

If you don't use a joystick, does the mouse control up & down with wasd for direction? Or, if you must have a joystick (which I used back in the day), does the game favor a particular one?
