I also find the non-64 versions are just distracting, like they threw in noises to go for that turn of the millennium avante-garde feel that has aged like milk.
Exactly, thanks you put it perfectly.
Honestly, for me anyway, the extra tracks could stay as long as the songs that were on n64 replace the current versions (and not even all of them, as for instance "Cyclotron" sounds the same in this). Yea I've also done this for music I've used in Brutal Doom, something I'll consider as well (if I get the ambition :D )
Of course, that doesn't fix the lack of track selection in-game...
Conversely Forsaken was the latest and greatest in a traditionally PC based genre, supporting the latest video cards and online multiplayer, the soundtrack was created by a group in the UK and was popular enough that it was sold seperately on CD.
Unlike Turok i can totally see why this remaster would focus on its original PC release, despite using the PS1 crosshair for some reason, more options are better obviously but i can see why the N64 soundtrack wasn't included.
It sonuds absolutely nothing like the original track, yet because of it's use in the intro and ending on the n64 it kinda was the bit of the soundtrack that stuck with me the most. Weird how that works.
I don't understand, you said "more options are better" but you can see why the N64 soundtrack wasn't included? What's your reasoning? If you think focusing on the PC version was the right call, fine, but why not include an option for alternate n64 soundtrack like in Turok 2 HD? Doesn't hurt anything, only question should be if they're ABLE to do that, not whether or not they should.
The Nubia track which sounded like N64 quality was unbearable to hear. Replacing it with the PC version (track 11, it's untitled I think) makes it more enjoyable to play imo. But yeah, if only they were more considerate about it, make it switchable and be done with it. What's gonna hurt? flipplin' 20 MB more of music?
