I'm Honestly Sad
I keep on thinking about chapter 7 and it's release but it seems like it just wont happen for awhile. I love this series so much and I know I sound crazy but it's one of my favorites. I try to be patient but this is just insane with the wait. Anyone have any estimate as to when it will be released? :higu_mion:

They still can't give a release date (from the comments).

I'll believe it when I see it.

God knows how long it will be before we get the final chapter.

Yeah I thought that was kinda odd lol. "Soon" could mean several months :(

Ryukishi07 wrote the ENTIRE SERIES in FOUR YEARS. 2002 to 2006. He did this, almost solo, while working a job with literally one day off per week, and no vacation days. MangaGamer has taken SEVEN YEARS from greenlight to now and they STILL haven't released the final two arcs in the main series.

The entire series has been out of translation for a few YEARS by this point. The art likely was finished long beforehand. What the ♥♥♥♥ are they doing? What could they possibly have had to do that justifies taking TWICE AS LONG AS THE ORIGINAL, FROM SCRATCH RELEASES TOOK?

This is absolutely pathetic. There are so many errors in this "new" translation that they can't even be given the benefit of the doubt about polishing.

I think at this point I'd advise people just buy a copy of the old translation.

Nukige, instead of finishing things.

At this rate the new when they cry game will be fully released AND fully translated by fans before all of Higurashi is on Steam.

Witch Hunt is doing the Kikonia translation. They're going to do it simultaneously with the Japanese release. In the time it takes for the Rei and Hou arcs to come out the first half of Kikonia will probably have already been released.

Really? Well that's promising for Kikonia, though not so promising for Higurashi lol... When it was first announced I figured it would be a decade before I would be able to read it. I am curious as to where information on it can be found though. So far all I could find was a post from like a year ago saying a new one was in the works. Can't find anything on its name or anything else though.

It'd be funny/sad if the whole thing was finished before MG did all the hig parts they said they would.

Well if Kikonia ever gets an anime release let's just pray to Oyashiro-sama that its picked up by someone other than studio DEEN.

Nah, tbh didn't watch the first season past episode 1 either. Just not really my kind of thing. But I did hear that a lot of people were unsatisfied with the quality of the animation for season 2.

Or at least not Deen with whatever budget they had for the first season. I thought the second wasn't so bad.

The arcs are incredibly compressed. Everything up to and including "Tsumihoroboshi-hen" is crammed into 26 24-minute episodes. That's a little over 10 hours, which is less time than you're likely to need reading just one arc of the VNs. It's pretty hard to get all of the important stuff in there, and they did not succeed.

That's definitely true. I read the VN's first and then watched the anime, and I enjoyed the anime as a kind of highlight reel. It was cool to see some of the scenes in action and hear their voices despite the relatively low quality of the animation. I don't think it would have made any sense if I had watched it first though. I did the same thing with Umineko and also enjoyed that anime as a recap highlight reel kind of thing, but I don't think either anime can stand on its own.

What what what?!? I've been so caught up waiting for the new Higurashi releases that I didn't even know there's another game coming out! This is awesome :D It's such a relief that they're apparently making the English version simultaneously.
