yeah, the map appears at the end and start of every stage once you've beaten the game.
not sure but I think it's still at the start of the first stage of levels before you beat it.
or go into the pause menu and bottom left corner.

I'm trying to go back so i can collect all the collectibles, but theres certain areas where i cant go back up, is there a way to access a level select or goto past areas?

Like he said, once you get the map, you'll be able to replay chapters of the game.
HOWEVER, if you missed a door and can't get back to it, all you can do is kill yourself to restart that level from the beginning, but at least you don't have to restart the entire chapter
