I've seen this talked about in like 7 or 8 games at this point and nobody has explained wth it is. I feel like its a troll/joke but its been different people mention it so im not really sure

Brand new player here. So far, I've determined that the "meta" is only playing a single way as an agent and being able to play creatively as a hacker (wouldn't that give everything away?). You have to refuse every proposition until it's hammer time and you have to always select yourself whenever you have the proposition option. If you're an agent, you aren't supposed to speak unless spoken to (wouldn't this also give everything away?). Every time you get a proposition option, apparently you are supposed to select yourself and the person(s) counter-clockwise to you.

Basically, it sounds like people have made some stuff up to feel like they are part of the "in" club, and everyone follows it?

I just had a game where I was in node 3 and node 4, a different hacker each node. As an agent, that clearly meant that those two people were the hackers. I told and explained my findings and because I outed the two hackers, I was seen as suspect. So, the lesson is, when you know who the hackers are, stay quiet on node 5 if you're an Agent, because they won't believe you.

I think it boils down to: if you don't do what they want you to do in the first two node rounds, they can't figure out who you are for the rest of the game so if you follow some sort of meta, they can fish you out better.
