Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered

Do save games carry over?
Started the original game a couple of weeks ago, and since I'm now well into it it'd like to just continue playing using the re-mars-tered version.

Will that be possible?

Does the game pull the save games from the Steam cloud? Or do I have to download and install RFG first, download the save games from the cloud, and then download the remastered version and import them? (I hope not!)

It doesn't sue the ones from the Steam Edition of the game. I think this has to be done manually.

It found my SAVE and asked to import but does nothing, I end up with a page with no saves and a MSG about Multiplayer.

I have the Steam version and know where the save is located so tried to copy it over and even renaming it but the Remaster will not load it asking to delete it as its corrupted (due to my renaming file extension no doubt.

I really would like a way to import my Steam sersion to the Remaster.

Make sure that the save you're trying to import starts with (the name of the file) 'rfsave_00.rfas_pc'. This might be the cause of the save not beeing seen import.

Yea I just read the FAQ above, I have one in the Steam user data folder and one in My Documents.

My game was originally the old version before it was updated to the Steam version to remove GFWL and add DX11.

My Docs : "44_t_3_12_1_1_2_9_1_11_1_34_19_-1.rfgs_pc"

VS

Steam Folder 20500 : "rfasave_00.rfas_pc" and "savedir.rfad_pc"

Tried them all and even tried to rename to same as Remastered initial SAVE.

Do you have the Steam Edition ? If so, when you start the Steam Edition it should promt for a save import from the games for windows live edition.
After you do that you should be able to import them into this release.

Yes many years ago the old original GFWL version was converted to the Steam version by the Steam Client Menu choice after I choose to swap from GFWL to Steam version to gain DX11 etc.

I have both the Steam version and since the other day the new FREE Remastered installed.

I have a lot of game play on the Steam version so want to copy my saves over.

I think I had to manually mess about to get my save to work that time also.

I mentioned this in another thread. I finnally got the old GFWL saves that were imported to the steam version to work by loading them up in the steam version and saving them to a new slot. They then showed up in the importer and worked. I hope it works for you.

Thanks that worked for me.
