Ancient Cities official version release date!
After months of early access development and testing, we have completed the majority of the gameplay planned in our roadmap[ancient-cities.com].

At this point the game is fully playable pending the implementation of husbandry in the local map, plus trade and raids in the regional map.

We have calculated that we will likely need a few more months of development to achieve these goals.

During these months, we will not only include these features, but also improve compatibility, optimization and further polish the current gameplay.

Therefore, we want to announce that March 24th 2023 will be the official release date for Ancient Cities!

But there are more news!

Now that we have a very developed and tested gameplay, we have decided to participate in the Steam Autumn sale starting next November 22nd so that more people can enjoy the game and participate in the final development sprint before the official release of the game.

Add Ancient Cities to your Steam Wishlist and Follow the game to be notified!

A big Thank you to everybody for all your support!

Uncasual Games team.

Probably your bottleneck is not your GPU but your CPU. This is not a FPS game but a simulation game and it consumes a lot of CPU. Anyway the game is under development and we are continuously optimizing it.

"more challenging"??? At the moment its just frustrating. Knowldge really increases only with migrant "groups"(mainly theres just one guy or lady in the "group"). Just by doing the tasks that train the skill it would take decades to get even a few pixels more in the skill.
And whats more challenging about finding no food after the first year? Wouldnt be a problem if farming was easier/quicker or if the people wouldnt leave if they dont have a housing in the first days(honestly, third day, two houses, 4 guys left). (Which also throws up the question how should I be able to find out whats and what ammount is on the map, when I first have to build a whole camp and full farming to keep my citizens and to be able to migrate with enough food)
Also it doesnt matter how many people I put in the fishing or hunting group. 1 fisher/hunter brings as much as 3 or more.
Doesnt matter where I spawn or migrate, I wouldnt find enough food to get over the first year without crops.
From my point -at the moment- the game is ok for one in game year. Either if you want it or not, u have to be ready with everything in the first year and aftter that you just wait for migrants so your skills finally increase.
I will actually wait for the next update until I start the game again and maybe also the FPS wont drop that hard anymore.

We are fixing things and including difficulty levels for the next hotfix. Anyway remember that Mesolithic is about constant migration. In the Neolithic, an expert player should be able to remain in the same location.

It's not playable at all. No matter where and when I start a new game, there is no more food after about a year. 5 fishermen collect 2-3 fish in one day. The hunter finds something to hunt every 2-3 days and 8+ people gather 10-15 mushrooms or whatever in a day. How are people supposed to survive there? They are actually constantly grumbling that they are very hungry. But even if there is something to eat, they prefer to repair the huts first or go collecting instead of eating (if there is anything there) then they starve to death while repairing or building tools. TOTALLY UNPLAYABLE! Before you think about leaving the EA, you should first balance the game properly. I've restarted 4 times now and it's just not fun!

If you are playing Mesolithic, you should migrate when you are unable to manage resources in the locality. If you cant stay in the same place in Neolithic please contact us so we can help you. You can use priorities to force your people to do things. Also you can pause buildings to avoid to be repaired. I recommend you to read the tutorial. In the next update we are including a beginners game level so you can learn to play in a more relaxed way.

I'll be waiting to see the new "easy" level to play the game. Right now it's to much work to succeed in this game. Games are supposed to be fun, not work.

Then again, some games are successful because they ARE difficult. I really enjoyed this game before the knowledge system was put it, and the game became a micromanagement nightmare (to me, at least).

In the new update we are adding new tribe reports and including game modes that might fit your expectations. From my tests the new version has a low micromanagement, but of course it depends on what you mean.
