Maybe. It's fun and enjoyable, but it will tempt you to spend real money frequently. You can progress just fine without dropping any real money, but it will feel a lot slower. There's an energy system, so you might find yourself playing a lot at first, but then it's a pretty low time commitment later on.

i started it like 2 days ago, but if you dont fall into the money burn traps, and just enjoy a game that gets actually better once you get a bit "deeper" into it (past the first 3 zones), then is actually a good game to put some time into it ;)

Well, I'm probably biased with an inclination to like this game since I started Bit Heroes very early on, but I enjoy spending my time here as a free player. It's a decent enough time-waster and there's usually some nice people hanging out in chat that can answer questions.

I do feel the need to warn about two things, though:

There are some addiction-fueling mechanics here like the energy system (which caps out most resource types in around 8 hours) and a pretty heavy reliance on having in-game friends later on (quite a few stronger players are willing to help but might drop you from their friend list if you go offline for even a day or two).

The shop has also been an increasing focus of introducing new Pets and Accessories lately, along with various temporary boosters and special package deals that can reek of "pay to win". It's a lot of mostly sideways movement with the new Pets/Accessories and not just a straight up "this new pet makes all the old ones obsolete", but it is still a temptation to have the new thing and the randomness of the gem shop boxes makes it a gamble that not everybody can win.

----

Overall, I'd say it depends on what you want out of the game. If you want a competitive test of skills, this isn't the game for it. If you want to occasionally pass some time grinding out random loot while connecting with other people, then Bit Heroes is something I can recommend. I think that this game is more about helping each other out (as opposed to destroying each others' hopes and dreams) so we're always happy to see our friends getting more stuff and developing their characters.
I've been playing the game since July of last year and have yet to spend a single cent on it. The game is absolutely playable and fun to boot as an F2P game. All it really takes is patience really. Don't get discouraged by those fools claiming the game is purely P2W as it really isn't at all, unless you care for them Leader board ranking crap. Besides there are ways to get by (survive) at PvP without buying gems. All you really need is to get decent gear and fams through grinding, then if all else fails lower your TS by going naked in PvP so you can earn smaller amounts of exp at least.

Its a decent game that you can play inbetween/while watching videos. However if you are looking for a game to play for hours each session it might not be for you due to the restriction of a energy system.

Here we go again with the stupid, "energy systems are lame", argument.

Get to a higher level first BEFORE you claim the game's energy system is too restrictive. Just get to Zone 3 ASAP to unlock Raids, once you do you'll get to use another form of resource that let's you play for even more time.

Being a part of a decent guild helps as well, especially if the GL (Guild Leader) has focused the guild's Guild Bucks resource on tokens, Raids shards and tickets. Our guild currently gives us six Raid shards at max so that's six Raids at full amounting to one and a half hours of solid gameplay.

Our Tokens are at 13 so if we really wanted, we can do thirteen trials at one token per run, if we wanted. Tickets at 13 as well, so we can do 13 pvp matches at one ticket each, again if we wanted to because there are daily bounties that require you to do pvp battles at one ticket each. They're the ones that ask you to beat a certain number of players on pvp with 30 fights won currently the highest.

Badges, the resource you use for GvG are also at 13, so GvGs can take longer if you wanted. Same with invasions that use badges as well.

At the current stage of the game I'm at right now, energy only ever go towards the World Boss raid as I have no more need to go on regular dungeons as R3 and R4 raids give better drops and experience.

And lastly if the reason you want to play longer is to get higher exp gains, you're doing it wrong. You don't need to play longer for higher gains. What you need to be doing is using the Daily buff bonuses and wisely using your FREE scrolls and tomes (the ones you get from bounties) on days when the appropriate buff applies. If it's an exp buff day you use your experience gain tome. On item find day, use your scroll to farm for items AND NOT focus too much on exp grinding.

Lastly, collect rune fragments and craft minor runes (start with the basic ones, green) and go after the +exp ones. Get two of 'em then move onto the next tier (blue, red/pink and finally yellow) once you have two yellow exp minor runes then you can go after the other types as you see fit.

RFE: Addendum...

Doing that solo challenge makes him a total bada$$ IMHO.

and here we go with again with people not understanding a point. I never specificly said the energy system is a bad thing, I personally think the opposite.
I just listed it there because like I said in my original post, if they are looking for a game to play for hours on hours without end , that it would not work in the game because of it.

Can't blame me for snapping out as that "other"thread really gets in my nerves too much >:(

this game is a giant Lootbox hidden in a pixel RPG game.
At first you enjoy the Loot and "Pokemon" aspect of the game untill you realize, that normal progress is not possible unless you spend real money on the game.

As an example ill take the Mythic Pet Rambolio. It seems everybody gets the recipe for this pet at an early stage in the game. It's a Pet of the highest tier.

You need a couple pets and fusions to get it and here some Maths (they are not exact but might give you an idea):

The Boss has a 5% chance to consider to join you and a 5% chance again that actualy happens. (might be 10% but the nubers are still bananas). This means you have a 0.25% Chance on normal to 0.75% on Heroic to get him. The Chance raises a lil bit with Daily effects.

So you need around 400 Runs statisticly to get him. Well guess what, you need 3 different Raid Bosses. Not only that, to max out Rombolios stats you need Rombolio 6 times.

So to get 6 x the same Raidboss you need 2400 runs
then the other 2 - 7200 runs
Plus the Normal bosses and rare Mobs, witch raise the the number to somethig crazy.

Let's say you do a Raid and the Boss considers to join you. Now you can cross your fingers and hope the 5% chance will do it or you spend 1600 Diamonds for a 100% Chance.

The Game sells you 1600 Diamonds for arond 15 Dollars. Or you can "farm" the diamonds in game. Well not realy farming since the Diamond drops are also totaly random and you can get 0 to maby 50 a day. I think i played this a Month now and gathered around 2500 Diamonds.

Let's say you decide to buy all those pets needed to have Rombolio.

15 dollars for 1 Raidboss. 45.- for 3.
270 Dollars for a maxed out Rombolio - and thats just the Raidbosses.
Then you need 4 Normal Bosses with a price of 7 Dollars (28 Dollars) and again 6 times for max out stats (168 Dollars). So around 400-500 Dollars for that one maxed out max tier pet.

For 400-500 Dollars i can go a Week on Vacation, or buy many many AAA Games on Steam ^^

Same goes for companions (Equip). The Companios and Accessiores dramaticly increase your Power. You can get those in the shop from Lootboxes again with random results. And here again the best ones incraase your power so imensly youll think your playing a different game.Best part is - there is no indicator on how you chances are to get the best stuff. Might be 10% might be 0.0000001%.

So if your looking to just waste some of your time (like i do) never spending a dime, sure go for it. But if you know you have a gambling problem and sometimes have the ambition to be the best in a pay to win game - stay the fu.. away ;-)

Edit. i considered to spend some money on this game since i enjoy it, untill i looked up "Rombolio" and did some Maths and all i feel now is: Fu.. the greedy designers of this unfair Lootbox Hell of a game. They should be ashamed and the game rated >18.

Well, I can say with relative confidence that Rombolio, as nice as he looks, isn't the best PvE tank familiar in the game despite his rarity. That redirect with his off-tank stat distribution doesn't really mix. Only thing I could think of using him for would be as a secondary tank in the backline.

Most people will suggest focusing on other tank fams instead - Bobodom (which is basically Rombolio without the redirect), Astally (for a PvP/invasion deflect tank), and Rolesker (PvP enrage tank). Two of these three are relatively attainable even for the free players that stick around a while, so long as you don't get stuck trying to find the schematic for forever. Speaking of which, I've yet to find that mythic Rombolio schematic that I won't ever make. :P

(Yes, I know I'm leaving out Olxaroth, but not a lot of people want to spend that long in R1.)

As for the pet/accessory boxes in the gem shop...yeah, now that's a lootbox in my eyes. According to some data that players have collected, we can guess that the rate of Legendaries out of a large egg/box is around 3%. We're also guessing the rate of Epics out of that same large to be around 10%. Do with these numbers what you will, but it's not mandatory to have a Legendary to do things in most if not all of the game's content - it certainly helps, but a Rare pet and accessory will do just fine.
