Transfering custom items from kongregate?
heya 0rava, as I'm pretty sure you'll check this comment up. big fan o' yours since M.A.D. hit kong back in the days. love the port, love that you're commiting to it, couldn't be happier that I don't need a fiddly site to play my favorite time waster.

that being said, I'm a bit annoyed that I can't load some of the content on kongregate. like levels and dolls.

I tried finding a way to just share a code for an item but didn't find it, so I resorted to just copying a level and trying to save the asset in my game but... yeah, they're protected.

so is there a way to do that? or is it something we have to accept until steam workshop is (hopefully) implemented?

You can transfer your save files over.

0) Store whichever Custom Items you want locally by loading them on Kongregate and pressing [Library > Custom Items > Manage > Save] in-game.

1) Locate your items.sol file in Kong save folder:

%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\ -->
<Some kind of ID>/chat.kongregate.com/#orava/mutilate

2) Close the game on Steam if it's running

3) Copy the Kong items.sol file into your Steam AIR save folder:

%appdata%\games.rava.mutilate\Local Store\#SharedObjects\#orava\mutilate

(If the folder doesn't exist, launch the game on Steam and modify any setting.)

4) Start the game on Steam.

nice! thanks a lot.

so, this worked but I have lots of models having joints/welds being visible when clearly they shouldn't.

any way to hide an already placed joint? I can't even select it for all I know.

sorry for the (probably) stupid question but I tried googling that and the kongregate message boards and occasional streamer make googling anything related super tedious.

Joints can't be modified after placing.

Do you by any chance have [Settings > Graphics > Play Joints] enabled on Steam, and not on Kong? Their visibility should be identical between the two.

And that did it. no idea why that was on in both versions.

thanks again for your help and good luck on steam.
