Controls, submissions, Counters, am I missing something
Recently picked up this game. Very interesting career mode

I am playing on the default difficulty.

I did an iron man match and the game decided to inject a special referee that doesn't like me... part of the game ok.

After multiple would be 3 counts that were slow counted... and in one case where I landed my finisher went for the pin... ref was nowhere to be found and I heard a table breaking (though I couldn't see what happened as the camera was on the pin) and the ref didn't arrive to even start the slow count for a long while...

I got fast counted. Ok part of the game.

I tried to rebuild my special and hit a long streak of stuff getting countered whenever I got close. Can someone explain to me how countering works?

And Submissions... As the clock winded down I beat my opponent to no energy and went for the submission at every possible opportunity. Within a few seconds without fail, I was countered.

When my foe put me in a submission hold it was held for a ton longer... What am I missing? Are there buttons I am supposed to be mashing? Holding?

Lastly... how do I get up faster? Getting countered, being in the ground, then taking forever to get up... Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.

With the referee and table crash, it's most likely they just fell through the table. It seems like referees have really terrible toughness. Accurate to the real world, I suppose.

Counter frequency and submission offence is judged by your skill stat. As for inputs, I find mashing for countering seems to help.

With submissions, you can press the direction that would move you backwards to crank, making them more likely to tap but also to escape the submission attempt.

Getting up faster, you can just mash the run button.

Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the information.

One last question. What should I be mashing when I am on the wrong end of a submission attempt?

I've found mashing attack and/or run seems to help, but I have no proof for this one.

With referees who decide to pick sides during your match, your best bet is to go for submissions. When locking in a submission, mash the attack, run and pick buttons but not the grapple button as it would discontinue the submission. When on the wrong end of a submission, mash the same buttons and try to crawl to the ropes. When in a no-DQ match, just mash the buttons. I have no proof this works but with pins, holding down the pin/taunt button helps to assist in the fall.

Ahh slow counts. I just lost a match to this... from a full time referee... As in not a wrestler guest refereeing. Is this supposed to happen? I don't think I did anything to tick him off... but this will (For me) become almost unwinnable if it is a regular occurrence.

Submissions still aren't going my way... but ill keep trying them. More often then not I get countered into an opposing submission and hoping that I don't lose in a manor that feels like im being screwed.

Oh, yes. Some referees tend to be biased. It's just the game's way of giving you yet another obstacle haha.

Tag Team Matches often I find the legal guy in a submission... CPU ally doesn't realize this is the time to break some rules and free me. I try to tap the change character button and it cycles between mine, the legal opponent, and the ref... I'm trying to Wrestling cheat here not video game cheat. Any way to fix this?
