Question about Online
I know it won't be available right off the bat, but is this something even possible for the future? WWE games have horrible network lag, and Fire Pro did the first day it was released, but now Fire Pro is just fine with 1v1 online.

Would love to be able to do some online matches with friends in this game, if not I'll still be grabbing it as the ios version is pretty fun and I spent a lot of time with the older games.

Online wouldn't work that well in my opinion. When I look at MDickie's Facebook there are a lot of people that ask for features without even giving an explanation as to why it should be a feature nor do they consider if it's possible or not.

if you want an explanation as to why online matches won't work well, it's due to multiple reasons. No doubt the server will cost quite a bit to constantly maintain, then there might be slowdowns because of large amounts of people trying to use it at once.
Mobile players would also start to demand it, therefore making it cost more to maintain and adapt. There would also be the issue of hardware limitations, a mobile player's performance could drop dramatically because of the amount of objects that a PC player might have set. There could also be an exploit of using custom characters who have max stats unless he makes a seperate multiplayer roster that does not change after a matches.

Either way, it's better that he doesn't make this a feature. But on the flip side local multiplayer (on the same system) could be possible. It was a feature in his MPire games and the game supports controllers.

All of those reasons listed why it wouldn't be a good idea are immediately nulled by a dedicated server option. Even further if it was lightweight and could be hosted on a linux box via mono or native, which would also take away "host advantage" of a peer to peer system.

Also, what is there to explain about wanting to play online? It's really simple, you want to play with friends who aren't in the same city/state/country. Not only that it would bring the community that much closer together, online games no matter how bad they are usually do well with multiplayer options.

Also as for exploits/cheating, there is a huge difference in just wanting the ability to connect/play with friends and others and a deep integrated ranking system. If you have a simple way to connect and play with friends, there really isn't any need to worry about them cheating or exploiting the game as it'd be obvious and there would literally be no reason to do it other than to be a jerk about it.

Latency is typically a concern with games like this, but Gang Beasts is running on the same engine using much more advanced physics and it handles online pretty well for the most part. So I believe the possibility is there for a dedicated server/local hosting, it just really comes down to if Matt can work it into what he already has or not.

Although I can see why online wouldn't work well for the game though if he's going to support modding as much as previous games, I'd imagine the compatibility wouldn't hold up well and there would be a lot of crashing. At the same time though that can be argued with having the ability for the clients to down the mods from the server when connecting so everyone playing there has the same files, like Garry's Mod, FiveM, etc.

As popular as that request is, online play is simply not something that I have any experience of or expertise in. And even if I learned, a game would have to be designed from the ground up to be controlled that way.

More than understandable, I'll still be purchasing the game, online is just a nice thing to have to keep the game going (doesn't always work that way but it helps). Been having a lot of fun the last few days on the ios version patiently waiting for the PC release. As I said in another thread, really happy to see you back!
