Change the movement from the analog to the d-pad

So, is there a way to do this? I found options to change other controls, but not this one, and playing a shmup with an analog stick is far from ideal.

For the joystick witch uses DirectInput, the D-Pad is available. For the joystick witch uses XInput, you may try a software called Xpadder. The software is able to remap the buttons of the D-pad.

Unfortunately due to engine limitations you cannot directly change the settings in game to use D-pad, if you are using an XInput controller like xbox one controller. However there is some free third-party software that allows you to emulate keyboard inputs with a controller, such as JoyToKey. You can use this kind of software in order to use D-pad.

I was playing with an Xbox 360 controller. I'll try a Dualshock 2 + adapter.
