it's sad that it's not available anymore.... purely because of dumb "online-only" game design. Some of the worst game design to plague the industry as a whole. Player-made servers should be the norm ( as an option at the very least ) with local-play options always there too.

Especially for small niche games like this.
They could have sold it for $2 and removed the online option from the main menu.
I guess with a few friends it's still playable, as it has "Remote Play Together"

Just download Parsec. It's a tool that lets a remote PC act as if their input method is a controller on the other PC. The remote person sees a video feed of the other PC. It's mostly used for devs to let someone test out their game without having to make a build to send to them, but you can use it for free (or at least once could) for your friends to play games together.

Agreed! I just played on Switch at a friend's house and the game is great in local-only mode! (also thanks to Remote Play Together and Parsec). Please let us buy the Steam version again! I don't need online play.

They've mentioned they will try to make it open source, so probably will add it as a different title later (probably for free). It has been more than a year though

Does anyone have a patch to remove the online bits? It's already able to be played locally right now anyway. Just that there's a huge wait time for it to decide it can't reach the server.

UPDATE Seems like you can use the code "longlivethequeen" to enable the Direct Multiplayer version. It lets you play without being connected!

This helps the game start up faster, but your username is some weird hash. I couldn't find a way to change it, so I set it to not show player names since I only play locally anyway.
