I think they want to avoid cannibalization of the arcade game.

Normally I would just buy the game and discover this for myself, but as I said I've been screwed with other games when trying to mix couch and online friends, so I figured I'd ask these questions instead of finding out the hard way after me and 3 friends buy it.
We're also pretty good at the cabinet game so the idea of playing against fresh players is a good one, even though this game is different.
