Artus Cimber?
I honestly don't know a whole lot about the modules, but I was under the impression Artus Cimber was just a part of Storm King's Thunder. I thought him showing up in Chult was entirely something Chris Perkins just changed to keep a story continuity going on the Dice, Camera, Action show.

Uh....The Ring of Winter? Old, Old FR novel that takes place in Chult. That is where Artus came from. That book is now 25 years old.

Ohhh, so Artus being in the Storm King's Thunder module is the bit that's new? Or is it a typical thing for characters to be used through multiple modules? Are the adventure modules D&D releases always novels first?

Man, I was in my late 20s before I started getting into D&D, so my introduction to characters like Artus have been through things like the Dice, Camera, Action live stream.

Yes, the Storm King stuff is new. The Ring of Winter is a very dangerous artifact. It gives several powerful ablities and "agelessness". Artus is well over 100 yrs old, maybe close to 200. He has been a Harper and a Chosen. One of those guys that just kind of shows up when needed.

And not all novels made in to module format, but a few did. The novels seem to be done for the time being. Last year the wrapped up a most of the storylines. There are a few still unfinished, but it seems like most of the authors have moved on to other novel projects outside of D&D. There were no new novels in 2017, and nothing so far listed for 2018.

Just thought i would add: Artus to me makes perfect sense for this game. Chult became is home for awhile. I don't understand the adding of Dragonbait. There is not any canon reason Dragonbait is in Chult. It seems so random. The novel he 1st appeared in came out in 1988. He would be (again) well over 200 years old.

MikeSecret is correct. The ring of winter was release in 1992 and is the 35th Forgetten realms book, it is also the 5th of the Harpers seeries.

And yes it looks like the FR novels are done, WOTC has moved on.
The final novels in 2016 were 'Death Masks' by Ed Greenwood creator of the Forgotten Realms setting, 'The Devil You Know' by Erin Evans and 'Hero' (Homecoming 3 of 3) the final Drizzt novel by R.A. Salvatore .

I've read ever single one up to the last 5 or so of the 285ish Forgotten Realms books published.

Yeah, I'm a little bit familiar with Artus, at least in terms of a bit of his background as a Harper and his being in possession of (and possessed by) the Ring of Winter. That campaign stream I watch has featured him a few times. As for Dragonbait, I think his inclusion in this game is because he's a part of the new version of the Tomb of Horrors module, Tomb of Annihilation, which is now on the continent of Chult. Beyond that? *shrug*

I've played through the Tomb of Annihilation campaign and I can tell you that Artus, Dragonbait and Asharra all appear in that module. Don't remember where they got Birdsong from...

Sorry for the necro, I happened across this thread whilst looking for something else. :)

Anyway, it's stated in the ToA module that "Dragonbait met Artus Cimber in Port Nyanzaru, and the two became fast friends. As Artus spoke of his quest to reunite with his wife, Alisanda, he was comforted by Dragonbait's quiet manner and unusual methods of communication . With a smile and a nod, Dragonbait agreed to help Artus. A frequent visitor to Chult, the saurial understood the dangers of the jungle all too well."

I would guess that DB was there on some random adventure post-Masquerades, or because he likes jungle environments.
