Custom heroes?
Does anyone know if the heroes in the party will be customizable? Appearance, race, class, etc?

It seems the characters are fixed. A human... and a chicken, a cat and a lizard. :steamfacepalm:
This is not a videogame of D&D like you know it. This is based on a D&D based board game. This board game doesn't have custom heroes. So no surprise here.

I'm not familiar with 3 of the heros but I remember Dragonbait from The Forgotten Realms trilogy "The Finders Stone". He is a steadfast paladin.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You are correct, just like in the Adventure System Board Games, the characters in Tales from Candlekeep are pre-made. However, we are not closed to the idea of custom characters in a future update. Stay tuned!

I hope so, One of the biggest turnoffs for Sword Coast LEgends for me was that I could only make the one custom hero and I had to be followed around by a load of cliche` fantasy archetypes. I'd like more DnD games like Icewind dale where you can build up your own party from the ground up.

if you just get all the heroes from the past games, id be happy with that too.

Yeah, I'm hopeful for some changes here as well. I am honestly not a fan of the current character line up. You would think more games based on D&D would offer custom characters but the Devs are correct, I own a few of the D&D adventure systems (Temple of Elemental Evil being my favorite) and they all have pre-generated Heroes. In fact, there are dozens of them across multiple games, way more then these four. I cant help but feel the Devs said "Lets try something new, grab the obscure character list." Which isn't in itself a bad thing, I have yet to play Tomb of Annihilation but I would hate to think these are the four Default Heroes who must save the world.

*By the By, ALL the Heroes from the D&D Adventure System are compatible with every new game using that system. i.e. The Heroes I have from Temple of Elemental Evil will work fine in The Legend of Drizzit or Castle Ravenloft. Sooo, if the Devs add more Heroes, even if they are not custom Heroes, there are some awesome (and more iconic) choices we could potentially see with future updates*

Well as others have said, characters from the other board games would give great variety. I am not really sold on the idea of playing a giant birdman & a giant cat person. The Ranger and Lizardman are not too bad, but custom characters would surely not be too big an ask?

Speaking of asking for things, what about the other board games? Any chance of them being future expansions??

Custom characters are pretty much a must for me in an RPG. I hope you revisit and put that in the game.

I'll wait for this, it would have been an instant buy if so.

yeah same. i am playing the game (because the game is awesome) but replay-ability is limited when i full on detest the characters given to me.

One of DnD's biggest hooks is you can be all kinds of unique and interesting characters! But it's a really annoying trend that DnD games being released don't use dnD mechanics and just kind of force you to play as pre-made characters or over-inflate canon characters. Yes, Minsc is cool but I don't want to play as him or Drizz't for the six thousandht' time, I want to MAKE my character. I want to be a high-elf warlock or a halfing barbarian or a Goliath Ranger!

This is based on the board game why anyone would think you can create your own guy is strange to me.

I'd rather see them just make more games instead of wasting time making features that were never meant to be there to begin with.

I also would like custom characters, the one's they have created are a bit naff. Particularly the chicken and the cat. I'm reluctant to buy because of this.
