Distance weapons and spell do zero damage

Yep, I can shoot things all I want, but distance weapons damage the baddies zero points, and my spell ("F") just makes a weak little bubble that goes through anything and does nothing. I have to melee 100% for all my kills. How could this game get released with this bad of a bug?
