I've been in the same situation. I'd say follow the scenario questline. Until Viron, crescemento equipments are good, so no need to change equipments and you can get some vis by selling stuff.
Once expert, rank mission will help you get some stuff. Try to get ELN (usually quite cheap at MM) and make it +6 3DR. Bounty Hunter as well, and join a faction to do dailies.
If you're F2P, at the beginning Grace Emilia will be of some help. Lynn later is also good.
if you're P2P, Code Name C, S. Sharon are good mdps. Christina, and later but not yet in Character summon stone Meister Lorch as shooting dps, S.Yeganeh and Chunga are also good melee dps.
Pay attention that you have a cash limit the first month allowing you to buy only a character package veteran. After a month, you can send an email to IMC for removing that limit.
2. Do Scenario quests by default
3. Do Infinito Challenge everyday to farm two full sets of Desapio Accessories for your main DPSers, and a third set for your buffer if you will. You should continue this daily for the tokens to upgrade these accessories to +10 and chipping them for stats - mainly Earring/ Necklace/ Belt
4. Recruit Ion, get Frost and Flare rings, replace Elementalist with Ion
5. Earn vis from Pure Gold Bars - Castilla Mines / Relic / Tower of chaos, Lucifer Castle Missions and Demonic @ Bounty Hunter's Guild
6. All of the above are to be done with experimental weapons and armors with the coupons
7. Build a good UNDEAD EVIL SWORD - This is for Chungha to level at Sedecram to build your family level
8. Aim for Greek Croma Armours and get them to +5 3DR 1s at the very minimum
9. Whenever possible, kick start on Rank 7 missions @ Coimbra ASAP to farm Valeron Accessories.
10. Buy Home Premium Service or Pioneer Premium
11. Try to upgrade your main DPSer's armour to Santo De Blanc armour +6 3DR when possible
12. Do daily Activity Point (AP) quests everyday for restoring 200 AP. You should be making use of the free daily AP restore from Leticia + daily quest 200 AP everyday. AFK Farm more AP at premium dungeons - Ancient En Celar or Ancient Portus.
13, Cycle your gaming between farming activity points / Sedecram / and vis farming from missions
14. Repeat all the way until you've obtained 1 full set of Valeron accessories and reached family level 85
I started the game just last year and this is what I did. Hope it helps.
On early stages, as F2P player, you usually do not have anything to go for Chungha.
While Chungha is good , there`re some alternatives thats waaaaay easier available, even tho weaker in some points.
What i would suggest (F2P route with no vet pack required):
1) Start with any team you want. Scout preferred due to Acceleration on early stages, but anyway you`ll swap whole your team in Coimbra.
2) Questing till Coimbra questline (~10-15 min).
3)In Coimbra, go for Calyce, Adelina and Emilia.
Why: Adelina is great starter. Her BF stance plus job skill allow her to get up to +4 A.R., that`s very important early. Her overall stat boosts are great (under BF fully stacked).
Calyce is also good, plus on early stages her channeling skill is basically oneshot due to massive % ratio.
Emilia is basically a must-have since the old times.
4) Level them to Expert\Master by doing the main questline.
5) Grind some Infinito. Full set x3 is required.
6) Rush the questline till Viron. Recruit any char you can, do not worry about them being useless and unviable - even chars you will not play anymore will provide you some free stats - char book buff, Attributes, etc).
7) Look for a GS recipe\ weapon stone. GS have some viable choices of chars to go:
JD- easily available, one of the best F2P Sedecram boosters. The only "but" is that you`ll have to boost his pen considerably (medals, rumins, other stuff) to avoid vesp blocking. Do not use him outside Sedecram...or maybe BH normal.
Lynn - Kinda easily available, good choice to go since she`s basically a universal F2P pick - she is tanky (Leather & DR buff on Consilium), have both good spacebar (under Consilium) and skills (under 3-hit combo effect). Basically her only "No" is not-so-good AFK spacebar (her stance buff is massive, but really short), that`s why i would recommend JD as AFK vesper.
Scavenger- must-have lategame main. You can even get him for free from rebouldex questline box, but it`s a VERY rare thing. But with his massive IDEF- he is basically a godlike. Ofc, do not think about him early game as F2P player.
That basically means you can use 1 set of weaps from Kielche to lategame.
Other good char swaps would be...
Emi=>Amy. They`re basically on par, but Amy is a bit more squad-oriented, and mechanically skill-requiring char. Plus, while Emi is heavily focused on "feature" utility like WC, BC, or similar stuff, Amy is more focused on pure stat boosts.
Emi=> Rosa. Rosa is a pure offensive buffer option.
Basically anything after that point is up to you. Asphyxiia mentioned a good gear swap points. Grabbing a "meta" cash chars, pets, other stuff- is up to you.
