how i can use glowstone?
it is a passive ability?

I have the glowstone but as soon as I switched to a weapon I can't pull it back out again.

I'm not sure what you mean. You can't hold the stone. As soon as you pick glowstone it starts to emit small amount of light around the player and it doesn't matter what you're holding in your hands.

Oh. I thought I remember holding it in my hands when I got it, and I checked again and I think I see a very faint glow around me but it's nowhere near as bright as when I initially grabbed it. I could be wrong about all this as I sometimes have a poor memory.
