About them dogs...
So I absolutely love the game, but the one thing that seems to constantly screw me over are the zombie dogs that just tear me to shreds in moments. Every other creature so far takes only one shot to kill, but the dogs take two. By the time I switch to the second gun and take aim I've already lost half my health. Is there any other way to deal with these damn bastards or should I just avoid them like the plague?

For some reason they don't seem to take any damage until after you've agroed them. So what I usually do is make sure I spot them first, agro them, then once they're literally like a foot away I fire right into their faces. Works about 90% of the time.

If you deal any damage to the dog it will scare it away. Headshot with any firearm will kill it instantly.

It's pretty pointless to shoot at the dogs, in my opinion, and not necessary at all. Take a long distance crack at one if you want, but the best option when you hear that bark is to haul ass until you get to a good flat area, or slightly up a hill, turn around, look down, and sword that slob in the face. Works every time.

I think it's harder to get a killing headshot on a dog because you have to aim down and lead the target as it runs towards you, much easier to kill a walker with a flintlock. Probably the best tactic against the dogs is to use your sabre.

I used my sabre against everything but bosses.
Spiders are gonna ♥♥♥♥ your game over if you're having problems with dogs :/

Dogs should run away when they receive any damage. Unfortunately I've just discovered that this part of a AI was disabled. This made dogs much more brutal and unfair enemy. Update with the fix is now live.

What does agro mean? I am new to this game and having some issues with the dogs. What does agro mean?

Aggravate. Get them to engage you and run in your direction.

It is an old MMO term I believe, we used it A LOT playing World of Warcraft for 10 years. Btw, I can't wait for Shadowlands to come out. If you guys haven't, check out all the big announcements at Blizzcon this year.. ooo boy

I've found that shooting at them long range when they haven't aggro'd is tough, so usually they aggro because I've shooting at something else. They are pretty easy to kill if you crouch and aim straight at them as they run up to you since you will line up a headshot very easily this way.

If they get in melee range don't even bother firing as you'll die by the time you've reloaded if you miss. Pull out the saber and smack that ♥♥♥♥♥ once or thrice. They'll either die or run away, if they DO run away as you saber smack them then pull out the pistol if your rifle is unloaded and fire away.
