Indeed. The devs developed Morphite with mobile phones in mind; they kind of wanted to start implementing features for the PC version and never got to it. The tiny field of view is killing me; I usually play with a FOV of 90 or 100 degrees and in this game it's under 60.

You land. The free-flight mode has no purpose. It was added recently because some people wanted it but the game was designed with an autopilot in mind and free-flight is utterly useless.

Sort of. Enemies circle around you and try to shoot you down, you turn your spaceship, shoot back at them (you have several weapons at your disposal), and dodge incoming fire by pressing the Dodge button. Since the game is also supposed to work on touchscreens, you can't really move AND aim at the same time, it's one or the other. In the case of space fights in this game, you aim; and press Space to dodge.

Those are random events that happen sometimes as you approach a planet or a station. They do not require the use of the free flight mode.
